Well folks, I have greatly appreciated the wisdom and support the last few years. Sprinkles is meeting its new family today. Started it's life driven by Marines and now it's going to live with one
I don't doubt what you explained, it seems reasonable to me. But, there were no signs of life until I reversed the polarity on those terminals. Once I swapped them the solenoid did it's job
Not yet, I am out of time for the week. It is now a next weekend problem. Indid pull the starter apart because I wanted to make sure there wasn't any sludge or crap inside it. The brushes were a bit nasty as was the copper base on the shaft. I cleaned them both really well then put everything...
That wasn't the worst part, I paid about $900 for a rebuild only to find I could have bought one for that.
This LMTV is turning into a boat, best two days.... bought.....sold
Problem one, I'm an idiot, the ground from the ground lug to the solenoid was wired to the wrong lug. I corrected that and now the teeth move forward but the starter doesn't turn. I am going to take it in to be rebuilt. I have a strong suspicion the oil and crap have worked their way into the...
The first thing I did was pull the batteries and charge them. I did clean the battery to alternator connection. Something I did notice on the starter ground strap, it seemed to have been full of water. The truck has a nasty oil leak on the timing chain cover near the hydroloc and air pumps from...
Before I get web attacked from 100 different people, I attempted to find the information in old posts and the TM.....
My LMTV had the starter rebuilt the week I brought it home. It has given me fits since I got it. I chased an electrical issue a few months ago only to figure out if I smacked the...
The nuts had vibrated loose and completely fell out on mine. I don't have a problem replacing it my only hesitation comes from thinking my original problem came from the lack of bolts not a damaged bracket. We did a visual inspection before putting it back together. I had it off twice. The most...
Oh, regarding welding in place, I have asked several people and nobody has been willing to try it. They are all afraid it will warp. Glad to hear any suggesting or recommendations for someone I can take it to that is able to so so
I didn't replace the support bracket but I replaced the bolts and lock washers and put a silly amount of thread locker on it. We have also checked them from time to make sure they haven't worked their way out. Drive shaft balancing is on my list.
I believe early last year I mentioned my oil problemandhave since tried several products to stop the leak and have almost given up.
When I first took possession of the truck I drove it from Texas to South Carolina. It was a fun trip with several hiccups along the way. I did leave the truck with...
I have cleaned the ground strap and connection but not the other areas mentioned. I will look into it but I do think in the short term, I am just going to disconnect the batteries if I think k it will sit for a while.
Yup, the love tap is what I meant. After a few motivational taps she fired off.
This is my third day of work trying to get my truck back to life...... after countless hours I took my frustration out on the rebuilt starter and it started
