    MEP-802a Buying Guide?

If this heater is a plug in, you will overload the outlets in short order... you can only test that kind of load off the lugs. Absolutely no issue pulling nose down on these trailers for the kind of run you are talking about. Most of the weight is on the trailer wheels. Depending on where in...

Next time submerge them in a container of carb cleaner for multiple days, then try to get them freed up.

    MEP-802A: Onan DN2W, not DN2M engine?

The casting on the block in the photo is curious too. I am sure they had more than one mold they used for this block. A little birdie told me that this 'fiercely British' company was having the Alpha blocks cast in the Far East... would make sense, as they recently were sold off to a Chinese...

I may have mistakenly gotten frisky with the fuel distribution tube off the fuel filter, zipping the crimps off the metering pump fuel lines with a dremel... but thats a me problem, not a factory failure. :cautious: If you want do save yourself the hassle down the road, just swap all the...

    MEP-802A: Onan DN2W, not DN2M engine?

The Lister item number for this engine is LPW2. I think they probably weren't paying the guy on the stamping machine enough to care if he mixed up the item numbers.

    MEP-802A: Onan DN2W, not DN2M engine?

There are reasons Lister Petter went bankrupt more than once...a microcosm example perhaps :)

Need some help picking a generator for single-phase and 3-phase use

MEP-803A with the AC soft start sounds like good middle ground to me.

    MEP-80X Blow by

The coolant overtemp switch, as Kurt calls out... doesn't drive the gauge. Its what triggers an overtemp fault. It is "INDEX Thermostatic Switch 8037122" The sender you are looking for is a standard 1/8" 450 to ~30ohm. You can use this one...

Need some help picking a generator for single-phase and 3-phase use

I'm not sure how familiar you are with the smaller MEPs MatthewWBailey, but here are some baseline characteristics for the liquid cooled 5/10s: Past the torque that the diesel provides, the flywheels on these sets are about 50lbs of cast iron... they help to smooth out any inrush that would...

Need some help picking a generator for single-phase and 3-phase use

Well you need to pull some amperage info off your hot water heater, and your AC... those will be the highest draw items you have. Unless you have a large well pump, so far my vote is an 802 for what you are looking to power.

Ideas on the range of PTO units, just like the range you can find in any other generator Basic - https://www.northerntool.com/products/northstar-pto-generator-13-000-surge-watts-12-000-rated-watts-24-hp-required-165929 (brush head, unknown regulation, no gauges, 2 pole) Intermediate - -...

Need some help picking a generator for single-phase and 3-phase use

Whats the likelyhood that you will want to run all your burner elements, the oven, the well, and the AC all at once? How often do you lose power, and for what duration? What must you run in an outage, and what do you want to run? Another option that works well for farmers are PTO generators.

What trickle chargers are you guys using?

Each branch/bank has a + and - ring terminal that you need to install on the crossbolts of the respective battery (and each has an inline fuse for redundant safety). So you need to unhook upon first installation, but they stay put thereafter. You just want to make sure the charger is not...

What trickle chargers are you guys using?

I have a NOCO Genius GEN5X2 in my 802. No issues so far. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/integrated-battery-chargers.205097/ I use one of these mounted on the case (in the plate on the side near the pocket door up front that has the aux fuel hose in it)...

Need some help picking a generator for single-phase and 3-phase use

Well what are your realistic 1PH loads, and what duration do you intend on running them for? Same for the 3PH requirement. I think you need two different solutions, based on the HP/KW ratings for your 3PH needs (as the KW ratings on a genset required to run those items, would be hugely...

New to Mep-803A ownership general questions

I've seen gasket kits sold for different engines over the years, with varying thickness gaskets... identical cut, I assume to take up manufacturing tolerances on older engines. As Ray said, I think going with one is the right method. You get one of the universal rebuild kits off ebay from HQ...
