    Almost Bought M1008. Some Questions

You are correct. I should have looked at the TM 9-2320-289-20P parts manual before posting. ;-)

    GLOW PLUGS - M1008/6.2 Detroit

I agree with cucvrus. Install new ones and see how it runs. Here is a glow plug issue that Stonpicker1 had back in 2010. He wasn't so lucky. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?60982-New-6-5L-ate-a-glow-plug

    New from Western Oklahoma

OK does allow it. You buy the regular tag and then pay more to not use the tag. Payable each year. With a Bill-of-Sale/Title and insurance it shouldn't be a problem driving it home. Just have your paperwork in order if anyone asks.

    DUKW Crash Fatalities

From Wikipedia The actual vehicle is based on the famous World War IIDUKW amphibious design (see post-war use). Today, the company builds its vehicles from the ground up to incorporate advances in marine design and safety. Ride the Ducks now owns the rights to, and manufacturers its own...

    GLOW PLUGS - M1008/6.2 Detroit

The glowplug opening is too small to fish anything out of. But it is worth a try. You can remove the injector and it will give you a better view inside the pre-cup area. The glow plugs are located in this pre-cup area inside the head. The opening to the cylinder is small and it takes some work...

    Almost Bought M1008. Some Questions

Welcome to the site. P245-75-16s are the stock size. You can run just about anything on up. Many like the 265s. What are you going to be doing with the truck? Mainly on pavement or mainly off-road. That will dictate what type of tire you want. Highway - The Michelin LTX M/S2 is a great tire...

My wife is in NC at this moment. Think a canned engine will fit in the luggage? I'm sure she wouldn't mind. ;-)

    Solenoid in stead of relay?

Make sure you read and watch the video in the GP Operation thread. (listed in the CUCV Helpful Threads sticky) It will help you understand how the system works. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?62477-GP-Module-Theory-of-Operation You will also want to read the TM 9-2320-289-20 tech...

    Manual glow plug override questions

A lot has been added to the site over the years. The CUCV Helpful Threads sticky has many helpful threads. A manual glow plug switch is one of them http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?144924-How-To-Manual-Glow-Plug-Switch All the above do the exact same thing, but they tap into the...

    WHAT?!? $582.00 Won Us an XM818 Tractor ! ! !

I have had three of the M809 series and ran 2 Group 31s in each. While they do like 4 batteries, two should be fine.

    WHAT?!? $582.00 Won Us an XM818 Tractor ! ! !

Nice score and a great blessing. One thing to add to the to-do list is rebuilding of the fuel selector valve. Find out which tank is selected an LEAVE it there until you can rebuild the valve. Ask me how I know. ;-)...

    Solenoid in stead of relay?

Are you sure the GP system is functioning correctly? There is a test section in the TM 9-2320-289-20 tech manual. There are also a bunch of posts for the GP system in the Helpful Threads sticky. (got to be too many stickies so we combined them all in to one) The relay that is installed looks to...

    SF97's not in buyers' name?

Closed thread. I guess no one reads the HMMWV sticky about titling the HMMWVs. WE DO NOT ALLOW discussion of on-road titling the HMMWVs on this website. You may be able to get it done but DO NOT discuss it here. What is that you guy just don't get about NO DISCUSSIONS about HMMWV on-road...

What's the deal with posting on this site?

Being a business that is "selling" your "services" you are required to be paying vendor. Contact the site admin at the "contact Us" button at the bottom of the page for pricing. Now if you where just a guy building a few do-dads in your garage, that would be a different story. And welcome to...
