How close do you have to "balance" the load on MEP generators in 240v mode?

I think we need to be careful saying that neutral current is wasted or does not do work. Neutral current is the result of the imbalance between the two split phases but neutral current does do work and is not wasted.

How close do you have to "balance" the load on MEP generators in 240v mode?

If the generators are being used for PRIME power its worth keeping the load balanced. For short term, emergency power use, don't worry about it. Run it like you need to. It won't really care from a health standpoint so long as you aren't overloading any single phase. You are correct that when...

Picked up 6 MEP-802A gensets and will be documenting making them all runners here

I use a little WD40 to get one to light off. Ether is fine too but I think wd40 is a little more gentle. Even if it doesn't start you'll see when it gets to the cylinders in the exhaust.

its good to get them above 75% load on a regular basis. I have a load bank if you want to drop by sometime and give it a workout.

Those of us in Efland have heard of it. We shot parts of an independent film there. The city was so helpful and accommodating. It was great.

    LMTV M1078 - Weight Capacities

Here is how I look at it. You can flat tow a LMTV with ANOTHER LMTV. If its loaded that would be over 20k lbs being towed AND I am 100% certain that a LMTV is harder to tow than a trailer of equal weight.

    MEP-831A

OK. If you can hold the speed control by hand and keep it running it eliminates a lot of possible problems. Your problem of it running OK for a while then going crazy is one I've run into a number of times on these sets. Each time it was the speed control module behind the control panel flaking...

    MEP-831A

Will it immediately restart and run OK? Will it continue to run if you hold the speed control servo away from its magnet?

MEP 831 FAQ for owners or potential buyers

Crap, yea you're right. They are smaller. If you can't find one let me know. I have a parts unit that I've not torn apart yet.

Alternative to D51R Optima on MEP-802A

I bought 2 regular batteries for less than the cost of one Optima. Keep a battery tender on them and they will last for a long time.
