Well, We hit Dt at 1430, to find Ron sitting pretty at the rally field. No problems setting up camp, and right now it is dead quiet. The stars are out, and all is good. Hurry up and get here.
Plain and simple, I gots ants in my pants. Finished the fuel run today, everything is topped off. Menu is fixed for the days that the MKT won't be there, and there is a pile of stuff to go into the bed of the "Long Easy". Bout's all I have left to do is pack the food, and pack the clothes...
Kenny, If I get to you 1st, can I have the 24 volt timing light? I am not sure Ferro knows how to operate one. He is not old enough to have to tune a motor using a timing light.
Am i gonna have to kidnap you? As good as the M814 is, I just don't have room for 2 m37's, a M915 and a M270 trl. You better fix it, as I am buying food for you.
RR? You holding out on me? I thought I would be in on this project........
Still loading the M814. Nice thing about a big truck is that you can bring everything, and still have room in the back for a M37.
I have everything together, last thing is to go food shopping on Thursday...
I am planning to depart my home around 1200, and be at durham town around 1400. I confirmed my camping spot today, so I am all set. I am bringing my push lawn mower, so I can have that " manicured feel" around my FOB.
SUpper friday night is Hamburgers.... at least for me and the wife.
What Warthog said---- Get an old axe handle, or shovel handle. Cut it off so that you have a foot or so sticking out of the tank. Find something to hold 5 gallons of diesel. Place the handle in the tank, make a mark where the fuel level is. Add 5 gallons. Make another mark, measure the...
I had to use a M936 wrecker rear winch, a 130 ton locomotive lifting strap, and a 7' diameter oak tree. Put about 5k worth of pull on the lunette, walked up with a 5lb sledge, hit the the top of the hitch( where the lunette goes into)6 times. On the 6th swing, the trl shot backwards about 4'...
The Long Easy is greased, just need to add some fluids and make a small repair. Starting to gather stuff to load, and on Thursday, I am getting the M37 down here from Ferro's place, and on Friday, I will retrieve the hooch. Then it's just small stuff.
I run 2 cycle oil in the M814 to lube the IP and injectors. I mix it as heavy as 40:1, with no ill effects. I would try 50:1, and every so often just run a pure batch of diesel to clean up any deposits on the valves. The 2 cycle is ashless, so it won't build up as fast as a regular oil will.
Go big or go home. You think a 5 ton is loud? Try listening to that turbo on the multi fuel for a while. You still have to wear ear protection in both!! If you drive the 813 right, you can turn 6.5 MPG, and with a little work, I think they will do 7. I like the power steering in the 5 tons...
