    Deuce surge tanks

Depends on what type of radiator cap. Most allow coolant to flow back in. I had one on my gasser M35 but had to take it off when I installed the multifuel.

    Modern multifuel redesign?

All LD, LDT, and LDS have 22:1 compression and are multifuel capable.

    Modern multifuel redesign?

Continental only mentioned the capability in one of their publications; no indication of what it took to achieve those numbers. The highest horsepower currently offered for the Hercules D5000 (aka ~multifuel) is 228 HP as shown here: http://www.herculesengine.com/d4800.htm. Hercules may be...

A popular auction site has them for $50

    Low Oil Pressure

According to TM9-2815-204-35, the oil pressure regulator valve opens at 40 psi. How will shimming this to open at a higher pressure increase your operating oil pressure?

    Low Oil Pressure

This only works if you are exceeding the bypass valve pressure. Why don't you fix the engine before it blows up?

    Servo Brake Conversion

It's been a year since I posted this. I spent some time on the 1947 brakes over the summer. Want to know what REALLY improved the brakes? Proper adjustment. Instead of feeling for drag which gave poor results, I looked through the adjust holes and adjusted for equal shoe movement (non...

    Pedal Stop Bumper Pad Installation

I seem to remember putting a block of wood between the pedal and floor boards to keep the pedal in an accessible location. Worthwhile mod.

    Why 2650rpm max?

Maybe for a SBC but not a universal truth. Look at engines with relatively narrow rod bearings; they need more pressure. It is also misleading to state this suggesting that a multi with worn bearings but still 25 psi at speed is perfectly acceptable.

    Why 2650rpm max?

I think that you are confusing two failure modes. Yes, you need to maintain the oil at the bearing and the lack of this oil will result in wiped bearigns (something not reported by those who have blown up engines). However, once you exceed the fatique strength of the fasteners, no amount of...

    Why 2650rpm max?

Apples and oranges comparison. One uses a bolt pressed into the rod with a nut on the cap and the other is just a bolt on the cap.

    Why 2650rpm max?

There have been two types of rod bolts used in the multis: 6 point and 12 point. It appears that the 12 point is in later build engines. It also appears that the failures have been predominately (or even confined to) the 6 point bolts. You can determine which bolt you have by looking through...

    Why 2650rpm max?

When rods have failed, it has been catastrophic with no apparent damage to the crank other than contact directly after breakage. If there were insufficient oiling, I would have expected there to be damage all the way around the crank. Bearings need to have enough surface area (width and...

    Why 2650rpm max?

Reliability reasons aside, the efficiency of the multi drops off significantly at high rpms.

    Why 2650rpm max?

Won't keep an overstressed rod bolt from failing at extended high speed operation.

    Why 2650rpm max?

Just to be clear, the multifuel was derived from the TD6427 industrial/ transportation engine NOT a farm tractor engine. The white/ oliver tractors were a later adaption of the multifuel (with lower compression ratio, Roosamaster pump, etc). The multifuel was a SIGNIFICANT redesign of the...

Ross HF54 Power Steering in my Deuce

NAPA part number 269-1194. You will need to cut out a portion to enable it to tighten a little more than stock.

lds wastegate turbo on an M35

I was able to trigger the air filter minder with a used air filter and the wastegate turbo; never with the C or D turbo. Did not happen again with a new filter. I will be installing a Murphy gauge with pointer to record the actual air filter restriction. I tried the LDS465-2 turbo and it...

    Power steering for the Deuce?

This can easily be done with a 4-port HF54 box and either mounting the slave cylinder to the axle/ tie rod or like the 5-tons do with a slave cylinder actuating the passenger side steering arm.
