You need to read the thread " Code-name-BART-(Bad-A**-Recovery-Truck) " if you want to hear about a HET. I got towed behind it when my shop van broke down going to the GA Rally. It was wider than than one lane on those roads!
The back seat of a HET is built to carry four tank crew members, so there should be plenty of space for his wife to stretch out and get some beauty rest on the trip. There is also the matter of excess width permits for each state he is driving through, which is probably more of a barrier to...
Also depends on whether you will keep the cover on all the time or not. If you only put it on when you need to have a cover on something that NEEDS a cover, then it will last a long time. If it is on 24 x 7 x 365 and exposed to the elements, you will get two to three years maximum. Parked out...
They will interchange, but you will probably have to turn the fuel supply 'down' a couple of flats. There are a number of threads on this subject, probably found in the deuce forum, or in a sub forum of that.

The 24 & P has all the parts for second, third and fourth level support. The plain 24 would have all the work packages to deal with troubleshooting and I thought you already had that. Do you need just the -24?
Welcome from the Columbia, SC area. Our club has seven deuces on the yard (only because two of mine are currently at home) amongst many other vehicles. One of our members has a farm in Holly Hill, and lives in Mt. Pleasant (and he knows engines).
I think from the halftrack story, the item must have belonged to the foreign government for five years or more before the state department would allow it to be brought back in. That is in the original thread on the 'african queen'.
You could also build a pit so you could walk under the truck while it is sitting on the 'ground'. That's the way things were done before 'lifts' came into vogue.
98g has done some long distance hauling from southern cali to the Mississippi river and points in between. Maybe he could move it east a bit where it could be passed along to another who could get it moved more toward the rising sun.
