As mentioned, trucks with the 4L80E use a dual output alternator, with the 12v feeding the transmission.
However, I can tell you from experience that you can also run the controller from just one battery. When we were doing a big push to field new M1114's in Afghanistan, dual output...
I would say the 416 would likely be a better match, based on weight if you want good higway performance.
I am a bit biased, as I have one for sale here in NC....
One idea the organizers might bring to the DT people- an option for an event-long wristband deal.
One price, get an OD wristband good for the whole event. No more walking over to get a enw one each day. It would reduce the workload on the DP staff, and be unique to the Rally.
Yup.
A lot of times I am looking for info from my phone. I search Google, because it produces more relevant results than the SS internal search does, in an easier format, and brings results from other websites as well.
Google simply works better.
Well, it does when this site isn't jacked...
It is a serious issue. This site ranks very well on Google, and lots of people searching for answers about their trucks will see a search result for this site.
Then when they click on it, they get redircted to a spam site.
It is a serious issue, and I am 100% certain it is hurting the site...
You can use the VIN cards to look at the options- when a VIN for a CUCV decodes to show a gas engine, you know something isn't legit.

Agreed.
Some folks let the idea of keeping everything a secret so they can maybe score a better price get in the way of being a community that looks out for each other. It isn't even like this is something that is opinion, a VIN is verifiable.
I think workshops would be a great addition.
They would be an excellent way for guys new to the hobby to learn, as well as those of us who ahve done it forever.
For example, Doghead can run one on how to use a TM before posting.
We can have ones on recovery and safe winch usage, M35...
The ones that sold had been training aids at the 63B school for the last decade or so. I know TACOM is pretty wierd about former training aids going back into operational service because there could be lots of hidden damage from constant part removel and reassembly, that is likely why they made...
You can't drive it without a tag in NC.
And until you have done a full -20 level service on it, you can't be sure it is safe to drive anyway. Look in the -10 and -20 manual under PMCS. That is the military standard on what you need to inspect and maintain before an unkown condition truck is...
I would be more than happy to donate some goods as well. Can't predict what I will have on hand a year in advance, but I promise to make it good.
An auction, say Friday evening, would be a good way to raise $$$ to cover event expenses.
While I know where you are coming from, now that we are doing hardball convoys into the community it is going to happen eventually, no matter if we like it or not.
Better to have a grip on it and somewhat control it than have them show up and surprise everybody.
Sustain-
Great food- the MKT crew went above and beyond. Great food, at prices that can't be beat.
PA system- it worked great for announcements.
Great people- this can't be said enough. I can set up thoudands of dollars of stuff for sale out, walk away for 2 hours to buy stuff from other...
