My starter doesnt always engage, as a matter of fact it engages once out of 3-4 times of free spinning. Is the solenoid something that would need to be addressed, replaces maybe?
The starter bolts and connections to the starter seem tight.
Is this a known issue?
I took two photos of the engine just started with cold oil (60psi)
and one with the engine warmed up. (~40psi)
I guess if the oil pressure is above 15psi its ok.
But lets not split hairs here, your engine has issues, big issues. And low oil pressure is part of it
I sold my 1089A1 and can't use it anymore to troubleshoot ctis . In my new truck the ctis will run for a few seconds with a blinking highway light, then check the pressure and turn off. No more blinking light or any lights on the ctis ecu. If i press a button, that button will illuminate as long...
I would like to add to this:
When I went under the truck to check the bolts while doing my PMCS, I noticed that they have been mounted through the round access plug instead of the square cover beneath. Meaning that these bolts, at least in my truck can only be accessed through the round access...
This might be too obvious, but i ask it anyway. Could it be that there is drag on that wheel? Say from a badly adjusted brake shoe? Did you test to see if that particular wheel spins freely?
40 psi IS low on start up and cold oil. It should be 60psi. There is either something wrong with the oil pump or the oil is contaminated with diesel.
Now if the engine starts of with 60psi and goes down to 40psi as the oil is at operating temperature, that is normal.
But dont take my word or...
40psi at start is too low, it should be 60psi. Did you check your fluids before taking off? Was there a check engine light on?
have a look at the air compressor and see if it has lose bolts. Post some pictures of what you can see.
And dont start the engine without knowing what the source of the...
What is the upgraded locking nut? I'll buy it just in case. Once I go the timing cover off , I would want to replace it right then , if it's the old style.
I think I'll give this product a try on the crack
