That is the same thing i found in my transfer case. Check the counter shaft bearings and output shaft bearings. mine looked worn a bit so i opted to get new bearings since i drive the wheels right off my deuce. That was just me though. im sure they bearings would have gone a lot longer, but I...
Somebody correct me if i am wrong, but i dont think they made M923's in 1971. In 1971, that was all the 800 series 5 tons. 900 series came out in the early 80's i think.
I will be there friday morning. I would like to leave around when the sun comes up, but thats what i would like to do... who knows if i can pull myself out of bed that early. its about a 5.5 or 6 hour drive for me i think. i need to take the cargo cover off my trailer to give me a little more...
I am not sure I understand your question. I am not sure what the heater looks like under the hood on the 5 ton, but I would think it is very close. As for the diverter box under the dash (the part that allows you to have floor heat and defroster) they are the same except the 5 ton diverter box...
bad news. 5 ton puller dropped out. looks like ill be driving down early friday morning by myself. i got the transfer case all together and seemsto be working well.
just a side note: my knuckle boots are in sad shape, so if anybody is planning routes already, can they plan some withouta lot of...
What dikwks pictures show is a shortened deuce heater box used with a 5 ton diverter box. I just got done installing my heater back in my cab (long story). Ill post pictures in the morning. I love the heater in this configuration because it saves room under the hood and looks more...
Well we got the transfer case in today. Test drove just fine. When i put the transfer case i. I spun it in high range without the drive shafts in and i noticed that the input shaft goes in and out as it is under load a very little bit. I looked in the TM and did not see a spec that showed wha...
The shift colar on the synchro looks great. It does not look worn but does it measure. 677".it always shifted ok. Though. There are detents in the synchro itself though, so wouldnt that hold it in gear too? All the teeth on the synchros look good and not worn at all... im suprised. What do you...
I am still waiting for my bearings to come in from Memphis. Meanwhile, I’m looking things over, particularly the shift fork. The TM says the width of the shift fork (where it grabs the synchro) should be between .712” and .720” My fork now is .760”. I know the TM is good and all, but how far...
All the ones that I know of. It seems like most everything was gas back then, including tanks. Diesels did exist, but the military liked gasoline equipment back then.
I am wondering if anybody has any 9.00x20 tires for sale or a hardtop for a deuce. Let me know what you guys have. I have a cargo cover from an FMTV and an old WWII generator to barter with if somebody has something else they want to get rid of. Let me know! I could use a new cargo cover for my...
I searched and did not find it. While I have my transfer case out putting new bearings in, I was thinking about putting a new seal on my air shift transfer case piston. I think this a speciality part I can only get online. Mine works 100% fine, I was just thinking since I have it out of the...
On come on Matt, I just bought a house in August and I’m still going to the rally! I feel your pain with the house though. I just bought new windows for downstairs. I saved for a long time and then *poof* it is gone. Oh well. I need this rally. It’s my vacation. I also need to get my transfer...
I know the shocks on my M109A3 need to be replaced... i think any way. I should take them off to check how they feel. That truck really bounces more than my M35A2. I dont drive the truck that much to get shocks for it. I should buy some new ones, put them on my M35A2, and put the ones from the...
I never have mine above 2300 ever. i like to cruse at 2200 rpm, it seems like a good speed and i dont want to push the engine until it blows. all respect to what everybody else does, i just think i like driving it everyday to work and dont want to feel the depression in my chest if i see a hole...
Well I ordered bearings today from NAPA (SKF Bearings) for the output shaft and counter shaft bearings from Memphis. I got a take-out input shaft assembly (gears, bearings, synchro the whole thing) from a sprag transfer case at Kublos. All the bearings feel good in it and I think I will give it...
Very nice! I remeber when I brought my MEP-002A home and fired it up for the first time. I did all sorts of PM'ing before I cranked it over to fire it up. When it fired up it was music to my ears!
Has anybody experienced a difference in the imported seals vs. the NOS seals (P/N 7373325 ). If so what suppliers have either the imported or NOS? I would like to get new seals for my truck and would like to research it before i make a purchase. I also noticed there is an additional seal (P/N...
