My first Deuce from the Air Force came with zipped boots, but she is starting to leak some fluid onto the tire, so I get to go digging for worn out seals. The second Air Force Deuce has OEM boots that need work too, but that will wait till after retirement. My time today was taken up by fixing...
I have searched high & low & can't find the post on how to fix the kneeling valve on the M1081 LMTV front tire. It recommended that the owner pull the tire & gut the kneeling valve of parts & stack dimes & JB weld inside the valve & replace the cover.
The tire lost pressure during several days...
Moon Pie & a R/C Cola was a major treat in years gone by. Now they say it will rot your teeth & cause heart attacks. (They) are jealous of the times when simple things were treasured; we knew better than to eat a case of moon pies & a case of R/C cola @ one sitting. ;-)
I wound up with the same problem. I traded a new in the crate cover kit for a Deuce that was tan for a pieced together group of parts with a camo cover @ one of our meets. When I got it home, it was in good shape, but for a 5ton truck. Good luck with getting yours straightened out.
You should see what James has done with the two trailers, the first one is pictured in his post. The second one is in its desert tan colors with a great cleanup & repair to make it an envy of any of us here for what it cost him. They are a man cave on wheels to say the least.
Congratulations on your new to you Deuce. Welcome aboard, stow your bags & prepare to get underway. The previous posters have covered most of the issues, so drive safely & may murphy be on the other side of the country till you get home. Enjoy every bit of the trip home!
I enjoy mine very much & it is a 1996, but was missing the drivers window & the turret top when I got it from Ft Bragg a few years ago. It does not get around as much as I would like, but I have two other Deuces to keep me entertained!
I found where mice got into my intake thru the fender well & ate my air filter. The wire in it stopped them from getting into the engine. I put expanded mesh over the intake hole to keep them out & they have not chewed thru that yet. Not the Deuces or the LMTV, but the Toyota Tacoma.. ;-) !
I was introduced to the dreaded kneeling valve woes this past week when I was inspecting the truck & saw the the tire was flat where it never has been before. The several nights of freezing weather took it toll on the batteries & the keeling valve. I will attempt the repair first & if that...
Looking @ your pump from the bottom as your picture shows, the pump turns counterclockwise in order to pull fuel from the tank & force it into the hose headed to the water filter.
Years ago, when they were demilling unused MRAPS, they would sell brand new Parker fuel pumps that fit the need...
You are missing the base plate that makes the pump actually push fuel into the system. As it sits, it is just spinning fuel around the impeller, doing nothing. Your plate is more than likely in the bottom of your fuel tank in the same goo that the pump was sitting above. Time to go magnet...
Could it be dried up blinker fluid? ;-) It might be sand as there should be nothing inside the housing & I doubt it is a desicant compound. Let's see what the resident experts have to say later on.
The S-788/G is 102" in length & 84" wide. It had wheel wells built into it so that it fits a Humvee, I will still have to go measure the M-353 to see what the actual distance is between the rain showers.
Update: I measured the distance between wheel wells & it is 66" measuring over the I-beams...
The braces are welded to the upper wheel wells & the lower is bolted in. I would measure the distance before chopping the trailer up, so I am not sure if your S-250 will fit that trailer.
