When I bought my first Deuce, it came from N Georgia out of Robins AFB. IIFC, I took all the paperwork to the local DMV & got a Florida title & tag to go along with the insurance & hit the road. That was a few years ago, but I don't think anything changed since then. Good luck with getting your...
I pulled a M1082 home from a distance of about 40 miles & know better than to attempt to try it with a Toyota Tacoma which is insane. The Deuce got a good work out on that trip & until the road got a few hills in front of me, you couldn't tell the trailer was there. The hills were a reminder...
Might be time to rethink our purchases from GP. We as a lot, have spent a very large sum of money from GP, some of you guys are happy with the transactions & some not so happy due to the way we are treated. Now they want to increase the fees percentage, on top of the last addition of charging...
My truck didn't have seatbelts in it when I got it. I added a four point harness I got from here & use it when on public roads. The fine for no seatbelt is rough, the death penalty for not using it is not acceptable.
These RFID tags do nothing until scanned & then they give out all the info the army needs to know about that piece of equipment. There are also the type that have the 3v lithium battery that transmit data to a small area & if you have the correct receiver, you can pick up this info.
I bought a...
I have towed lots of military trailers, but only one Deuce that I recovered from GP. I towed that Deuce which was obviously a non runner about 15 miles thru the back woods roads with lots of turns. I didn't tie down the steering wheel as it had been explained to me here NOT to. The tow vehicle...
It is 6.165 Total overall width
3.010 Inside diameter
& 1.6050 Thickness of the ring.
I used a 6" caliper to measure it as a ruler would be more a guess. Hope this helps.
I scrounged up some scrap SS bar & tubing & made a handle to operate the landing leg. The problem is that the welding helmet hadn't been used in a long time & I thought I arc flashed my eyes, luckily, no pain during the night proved me wrong. No pictures because the crank handle looks horrible...
Nothing like running your own thread on a subject. After finding no info on the exhaust vent system due to all the dirt & rust, the electrical feed was removed from the barrel assembly. This allowed me to see that a Sheetmetal collar was screwed around the vent on the inside. After that collar...
I bought a couple of these units last year from Gov Planet & put one on my M-1081 & the other one on the ground on PT timbers. The one on the ground is an excellent workshop for electrical & hobby R/C work. I hooked 120v shore power to it & everything but the ECU works due to no 3 phase power ...
I have two of the M-116A3 trailers, but no original handles or even some stand in tool. My landing legs were folded back into the deck & that is why they are still there.
Great write up on repairing your grenaded landing leg & how you repaired it.
That trailer is a really heavy trailer on the tongue, so I hope you have a large enough truck or tractor to pull it loaded with. Have you gotten your handwheel freeded up?
I bought 2 M116A3 trailers several weeks ago from GP & I can attest that they are indeed made mostly of aluminum. Putting magnetic lighting is not going to work on the rear deck, but you can tape them to the rear steel tiedowns. The magnets alone won't hold the lights to the steel rings, don't...
