What type of steel fasteners for aluminum?

The Galvanic effect between stainless steel and aluminum would be negligible. You can always get aluminum screws.

What exactly does the torque converter lockup switch do?

Would you use a switch like that when towing a heavy load?

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Guys, I own an alignment tool. It gets you close enough for the computerized alignment laser machine to finish the job. If you can get the truck close to specs AND loosen all the tie rods and pull as many shims as needed to get her close, then the centers can do their job. If you bring them a...

    Alternator/Generator housing broke. Repair?

Your work looks great but I might consider taking things apart, grinding the Aluminum clean, putting it back together and TIG welding the seam. Maybe not necessary but it is cheap insurance.

    New Toy

The cure for diesel algae is multi fold. There are chemicals that you need to add to the diesel. You might need to change the sock and the filters if they are currently clogged. That means you might perhaps need to drop the fuel cell and clean it out with the sock, and then clean all the...

Hmmwv radiator 6.5 non turbo, best option

Yes. True. But overall dimensions are the same. I have held both up to each other given that I own civilian and military units. Steve is correct (as always).

    HMMWV REV truck brakes

I contacted Wolfer re.: whether or not one of their items was OEM and or aftermarket, and after many many weeks I am still waiting. LOL. Most vendors answer right away. I chose not to purchase that part from them.

Hmmwv radiator 6.5 non turbo, best option

I discussed this with RWH many months ago and he explained… An ECV has a different hood mechanism and different mounts to allow for the longer radiator. The civilian H1 turbo and duramax turbo use a shorter radiator and do just fine. Without major adaptation and major parts purchase you won’t...

Alternator V-Belts rattling. Should I replace?

Where would I search for a double V-belt. I’ve seen a lot but I’ve never seen these

Alternator V-Belts rattling. Should I replace?

I purchased “matched belts” and they are not matched. One belt is certainly less tight by touch. I guess I’ll by another set and keep these for an emergency

Alternator V-Belts rattling. Should I replace?

Alternator V-belts rattling. Don’t appear to be a matched set, although that’s what I ordered when I bought them. I tensioned them warm with a three foot breaker bar. I will try to post a video later to see if the video looks normal or if you guys think I need to replace the belts. Note the...

Battery imbalance. Related to dual voltage? Trying to understand electrical system

To keep your batteries more balanced, you should switch batteries back and forth meaning that the number one battery should become the number two battery and vice versa every three months. Edit - you can also add a third motorcycle battery to be charged by the 12V circuit for use with the...

Is this 6.5 a lost cause?

It’s not dead yet… I think it wants to go for a walk… Just to play Devil’s advocate, water in a cylinder does not equal water in the crankshaft. Still, not worth fixing unless it’s a GEP

    Hutchinson Run Flat Lubricant

I still would like a cheaper effective option for civilian use.

    M1152 Low Top Speed

If you are not interested in placing a 200 amp, consider purchasing a GM 24 V alternator, (which is easily sourced and easily rebuilt), and make custom brackets and hook it up to your unit. There is no reason that you must use stock military items. Given that you wish to swap out a 400 amp...

    M1152 Low Top Speed

I think replacing a 400 amp with a 60 amp is way off the RADAR. It is a serious downgrade that makes no sense. If it is a money issue, save up the money and purchase a proper replacement, and then sell the 400 amp unit to recoup some cash. IMHO

Its not the end of the world. Got a decent deal on a 2007 1152!

Really happy for you BUT the World must be ending because I think Heck just froze over after a deal like that.
