All this sounds to me as a bad thermostat or a missing one. Normally the reading with a working thermostat should be between 180 and 200 F. Even in November the engine should get to the said temperature. So it is not an engine problem, it is a cooling problem, here I think a thermostate problem...
I guess it was a M36 brigde truck. Their beds had been quite longer. The Pontons were not so heavy and needed a lot of space. Last I have seen them was about 15 years ago when they went surplus in Germany (Karlsruhe engineers finished operation due to troop reduction). Some of them then were...
If you do not go off road it might work. Off road you get problems with the rear axle clearence to the bed. This is why the M34 has a different bed with the wheel house cut out.

I modified my M715 about 4 years ago to a 6.2 l engine due to spare part problems with the previous Diesel engine. It runs on 1028 gmp solo and about 10.8 mpg with the M101A1 trailer
Brake fluid
Cleaning the brake system is recomaned for the other way around also. Do you know how long the fluid was in the vehicle. Was it installed properly? Was the old rig while beeing changed to silicone treated propperly. You do not know. I any Army / public service of this world there...
Fuel
Your motor pool sergant was a smart man. Follow his ideas. With todays diesel fuel you may add 1% of engine oil to improve fuel system lubrication. For emergancy Diesel engines burn a lot of ****, but this is nothing good for the environment due to burning fractures like Dioxin.
Most of...
Dot brake fluid
If you change from DOT 3, 4 or better to DOT 5 silicone based brake fluid, you have, to avoid desasters, wash your brake system with concentrated alcohol. This means you have to take out all brake parts, strip to the last nut and bolt, wash in alkohol (including all tubes and...
Pintle
I use the original pintle hook and the original draw bar eye. The draw bar eye got a TP-number. Both is registered ín the vehicle documents.

New Stile
After I tried 2 quick replies which did not work, I'm not very happy with the new stile. I can not get into the forum, there are some idiotic questions asked, which I tried to answer. May be I' m to stupid to understand American English. Howerver, I have may customers in the US where...
Found these pics today. These Sierra Ambulances in former years relativly often were seen in Germany in my area, in green and in blue. Here the Air Force always had the better vehicles, larger, more powerfull, better equipped. Many be ist was used at the Hospital at Landstuhl next to Ramstein...
The oil question: With the recommanded oil viscosity range the starter with propper batteries is always able to crank the engine at at least 200 rpm, which is the minimum required starting rpm. The other questions are: Fuel will be pumpable, means not be clogged ? The injection nozzles are still...
Hallo CCATLETT1984,
the local Chevy dealer in Germany sells DAEWOO cars which are now sold under the brand of Chevrolet. Even the Opel Dealers which sold Chevrolet or GM cars and trucks before or still nowadays, have no access to the mil parts (There is one in Mannheim to cover the US...
To whom it may concern, the original oil cooler lines are made by Michelin and not commercially available. The only possibility for original ones is surplus or connections to the Army. The best is, as mentioned above, to fit civilian fittings to the block and get some lines made at your local...
RE: Re: RE: M715 Gas Tank
I have no problems with my gas tank since 28 years. May be, for I fit a Diesel engine to the truck. Modern fuel , the unleaded stuff, will produce with the time some -ester, which is a kind of acid and eat the tank. The only help is to get the tank coated with a...
RE: Ural Motorcycle
So your bike was made at the beginning of the learning of quality. The older ones were much worse.
Anyway, skilled drivers use the older ones for any distance. But they know how to and the most of these riders are skilled motor cycle mechanics/riders.
Continue to try!

RE: What I got back from My Senator
That does not help me to find out your opinion on this matter, wiggall. May be you should write it down.
Thanks!

The 6.2 l DD engine is a commercial product. So It should be possible to find a cyvilian engine heater for any region that fits. However, the problem is the age. To my experiance the standard Auto Parts Shop even does not have the oil filter any more. So you need a guy there, which is long...
Vintage Power Wagons have a lot of parts, however, some run short now. About a year ago I tried to order a new transmission but the last one was just sold. I tryed to order a engine gasket kit: sold out! For your frame problems, I think, it is the best to contact Kwai. Try your very best to get...
Price sounds good, howerver: Where to store them. If they stand outside they do not get better. If the garage is not well ventilated, they rust very fast...
Sisu is a good brand!
