Unplug all of your battery cables. The leads on the back of the volt meter will touch metal otherwise and blow the fuse at the bottom of the fuse panel.
Pull your headlight switch out, reach under to find the release button on the switch itself to remove the pull handle. Or, try and get the...
You will need to move the rear engine mount back a few inches to allow a starter motor to fit.
Basically, unbolt the rear cross bar from the engine and the can. The engine will sit there just fine without the rear support. Slide the cross bar back until it wants to drop off the rack it is...
One of mine does that every so often. I have a small leak in one of the fuel lines between the lift pump and the IP. I have a spin on filter. I just haven't replaced all the hoses yet to get rid of the air inlet.
Mine will do as you describe. Fire up and run just fine for a few seconds...
With our cool temps currently. I think your temp gauge is off. Or, there is something not exact in the cooling system. With only 600° EGT. It shouldn’t be over 200° using mine as a guide.
The Banks manual says around 1 psi boost at 60 mph with 400°-500° EGT on flat ground. I get that at 70 mph...
I have been able to get that little pin to reset by stomping the brakes very hard several times. Of course, the brakes have to be bled and in good working order at all 4 corners for this to remotely work. I also can’t figure out why stomping very hard works, but it does. Or at least it has for...
Which TPS are you using? The GM one I used read backwards. I was able to tell the TCM to reverse signal and all was good after that. See if you have that option before you get into the wires.
Have you changed your fuel filter, checked you in tank fuel pick up sock or looked at the IP return check valve for debris? Any or all the the three could cause your issues. They are also cheap to look at and do. If you have debris in the return check valve. You then get to get an IP rebuild by...
If you unplug the battery, you turn off power to the pink wire on top of the IP. You also have a non charging alternator. However, something in your wiring is probably messed up to allow power to the pink wire with the key off.
If, with power turned off to the pink wire on the IP, the engine...
Thanks for posting this. I had no idea of the 2014 rule change and didn't know about your effort. I am currently building a "buggy" for Boxcar in my class and we just discussed making it road legal the other day. Not knowing it is currently impossible.
350° on the EGT is about right at idle. I see 300°-400° at idle most of the time. It jumped to 275° as soon as I fired it up this morning and was at 325° or so when the cold idle kicked off.
It won't make the boost gauge move until you put a good load on it. Revving won't do it and neither...
At least those head studs have paid for themselves now. How many sets of head bolts have you not had to buy?
If it holds 15 psi for more than 20 minutes or so, you are good. Overnight means you have one heck of a tight test pump and hose set up.
You could pull the brake drums off to make them lighter. Otherwise, some kind of stool to sit on so your legs can kind of catch the hub as it comes off...
The -20 manual has a wonderful 76 page long troubleshooting section. Then another trouble shooting section on just electrical stuff. The opening page of that section states in very clear terms to make sure you have two batteries that are fully charged and have been load tested before doing any...
It might have just had some surface corrosion on the crank as well. My M35 Gasser didn’t leak a drop of anything around town and on 30 mile test drives. I drive it to Houston one super hot August day and see something shiny in the mirror on the passenger side bed about 60 miles later. Transfer...
Pull the fill plug on the transmission to see if oil gushes out at you. It could have some water ingested in that raised the level some. Also, check your engine oil level to verify a few things. One, that you still have some and how much you have lost.
Oil psi will be the same no matter how...
