Temperature - I haven't seen mine above 150 degrees. As for the shifting, it is an automatic transmission, meaning it does not mesh and un-mesh gears. It uses planetary reductions involving allowing something to turn or not allowing something to turn. That is done with clutches and bands. Slow...
As has been stated, there is a good chance you may get lucky and drive off with no problems. But (there is always a but) if you are not that familiar with them, your chances drop some. As in if you do not already know what simple things to look for, the sales lot is not the friendliest of places...
Here is a chart for the A1: It does not specify the year but maybe we could add our particular vehicle years to see where the serial numbers jump.

I have found that airing down really helps a lot but many folks don't want to go through the hassle. It takes a while. Some of these folk store their truck in the area so I would think there would be little need to air up. I drive up there from El Paso so I am there for 2 -3 days minimum. I air...
Yeah, that is Elephant Butte. I tried to find the thread where that picture was first posted on here because there were more pictures there, but I could not find it.
Yes, you are expected to pay up front regardless of how long the EUC process takes. On the bright side, I don't think they are taking 60 days. Probably more like 20 to 30 days. dispute is another matter altogether, time wise.
Hey, I speak Spanish. I keep buying big green or tan trucks that my better half does not appreciate as much as I do so I guess I am also potentially homeless. Darned good thing I am legal (most of the time). Adios, amigos.
