Thanks for volunteering me, Kenny :) Just kidding. I was going to offer anyways. I have to go to Norfolk to pick up 400lbs worth of parts for another member next Wednesday. I think I can handle a couple of tents too. PM me your info.
I was bidding hard on a couple of 925A2's there. Now I'm glad I didn't win them. I'd be in the same boat with Bruce. Sorry buddy.
Jason, did any of the GL trucks have obvious GL markings on them? I know most of the trucks I have purchased have had the sale/lot numbers written on the truck...
Even though it is slower than your A2's, it is still a very cool truck. I'm sure the chicks will dig it. You could always put an auxiliary over-drive unit behind the tranny. You'd have to lengthen and shorten some drive-shafts, but it would do wonders for your top-end speed.
The tent sounds like a good idea. I'm sure it will be hot and humid so some shade will be much appreciated. I'll get with you a couple days in advance, Rob. We'll figure out when to get there to stake our claim.
OK, I just talked to the Parks and Rec folks. They don't have any of the big shelters available, but she said they have lots of mini-shelters with grills and even clusters of picnic table with grills as well. They are first come, first serve so I may try to get down there a little early to...
OK, this is really coming together now. Peecook has volunteered to haul his grill down in his 109. I will call the park tomorrow and reserve us a shelter if they have any available. If not, I guess we'll cook out in the grass beside the parking lot. As we get closer to the date, we'll put...
Here's a map of the park: http://www.vbgov.com/file_source/dept/parks/Document/PKS_MtTrashmore_map.pdf
I figure we could park across the street from the main office. I'm open to suggestions about where to go to lunch.
You guys want to meet at Mt. Trashmore on August 23rd at 10:00 or 11:00 hours? We could meet there, look at trucks, have a BS session, and then convoy somewhere for lunch. Thoughts?
My 1970 M35A2 w/w was a NA truck. It ran like a raped ape. The smoke plume was a plus too. It ran 55-60 mph from Memphis, TN to Charleston, WV without missing a beat. The WV mountains slowed it down a bit, but not much. I miss that truck.

Will, you are awesome. Great pics and instructions. This looks like another good sticky for the 5-ton forum!
Great thread gang! I love prototype trucks. I was looking at buying a 939 prototype last year. It had a lot of neat features that didn't make it on the final version.
Welcome to SS. For Sale ads must be placed in the Classified Ads section. That is located under the Resources tab at the top of the site. Typically, ads are limited to military vehicles and MV parts, but since the H1 shares its lineage with the HMMWV we can probably make an exception. Thanks.
Sure, ad-blocking software does a great job at blocking ads, but it also blocks useful features of our website like our supporting vendors. Their ads help keep Steel Soldiers going. Please consider disabling your ad blockers for the site. Thanks!
