Contact Expeditions Imports in Cali, Eurotruck Importers in GA, or EuroTech Services just down the coast in OR. A lot of those parts you mention would kill you with shipping so that's where EuroTech would be nice. Jim Ince is a very nice guy too.
$12k is a good price for a running, driving...
Re: RE: G.L. speeding up
Yep, it took about 10 days for them to charge my CC $60 after submitting my request for SF-97 for my 1008. I was enjoying the free SF97's too, but the wait was killing me. $60 is a lot cheaper than using a title service.
Many dealers can run the serial number and tell you if it is stolen, what major service items it has had, etc... My brother ran the serial number from his John Deere and found out all sorts of interesting stuff before he bought it.
If you are serious about buying it, then you could call your local equipment repair place and see if one of their field techs can inspect it for you. The seller should be fine with that if they have nothing to hide.
Great pictures, Karl, but I was expecting to see some shots of a dump truck pulling out a power-pack ;)
I really need to get over there for a work session sometime. Can you let me know the next time you guys are going to do some wrenching? I'd love to work on a tank :D
Wanted to bump this back to the top. Evilone, did you ever find any more information out about the power plug for the heater?
Anyone else? At least I have a spark plug for it now.
Lanty: You guys were fine. The rear line was already smashed when I bought it.
Rory: That's where I would chain it down, but it is tight and you have to feed chains around the swing-fire chamber and coolant hoses. The rear is not too bad. You just have the glad-hand valves and lines to...
Re: RE: Tire Width on a unimog 404
Ahh, that brings back memories. Thanks Lanty. That was a fun Mog.
I used a 16' 4-ton tandem trailer with electric brakes to tow mine behind my Dodge 2500 diesel. It towed really easy. My biggest complaint is that there were no shackles mounted on the...
Water is 8.3 lbs/gallon so you had about 50k behind it no counting the trailer! Heck of a load! I would feel better with a 5-ton truck, especially if there is any chance it would go on the road.
RE: trucks
We haven't established a locale yet. I am going to check with Chick-fil-A and Daneil is going to check with Ft. Eustis. Any other suggestions folks?
How does Saturday August 23rd work for everyone?
I just had a buddy tell me that when they do hot-rod drive-in's at Chick-fil-A, they get a free meal on the house for the publicity. Maybe we could work something out with them. He said they take 40 cars over there sometimes.
Nice thinking, Scott. We had talked about doing the VA Rally for Ethan next year, but this would be a nice way to honor him now. He definitely would have attended. So, if there are no objections, then we shall call the event, "The Ethan Allen Alexander Memorial MV Drive-In."
Thanks Chuck. I am going to try to make the VWM show as well. I have talked with M215 about that in the last few weeks.
I am up for anything from an informal drive-in at a local restaurant to a picnic/sightseeing adventure. Let's keep the dialog going.
