Clutch slipping, can it be adjusted?

I drove it for about 15 miles last night and it was manageable.

    New(to me) tools

i wouldn't change to a single phase. if you do and need torque at low rpm you wont have it.

Clutch slipping, can it be adjusted?

I will check it out again tomorrow. I just remember it was hard try to feel the difference of the freeplay with the springs attached and knowing physically where the freeplay engaged without the rest of the assembly attached.

Clutch slipping, can it be adjusted?

How far can you depress the clutch pedal before the slack gets taken up? It's hard to tell, with the clutch return springs attached. so I disconnected it and measured it as described in the TM. I had about 3/4" (i dont remember exactly) at the lever near the bell housing. how much that would...

    Home Made Fording Kit?

I am still a noob and i am also trying to learn about the fording kits. can we get some pics up (central vent kit, where the air is supposed to enter the bell housing, Etc...) It would help me a lot. I am still a long way from getting the beast wet but I should learn a head of time what i'm doing.

Clutch slipping, can it be adjusted?

i put some miles on it today. she was still slipping but not as bad as the other day. I think i am going to get lucky on this one. i just cant really bury my foot into it or it will slip right away. But it is much better.:):mrgreen:

    New(to me) tools

That is verry similar to how my my of the shelf rotary phase converter works. It was a bit complicated for me so my buddie had to wire it.. it didnt make sense to me. 220 in to it to spin the motor and the motor created the 3rd pole that came out. the machine always has 220 going to it, but...

    New(to me) tools

Hey gimp, Congtrats on the mill. These guys are 100% correct that you can build a 3phase converter from a old 3 phase motor. Basically you take a 110 motor and run a belt to turn the 3phase motor. The wires connecter coming out the 3 phase motor is now a 3 phase generator. If the mill motor...

Clutch slipping, can it be adjusted?

So today i removed the lower clevis pin (btw it was a detent type push pin not a bolt :)). As it turns out I do have some freeplay (thats good) However the dimension measured 3 1/8". The manual says approximately 3 1/4". I would think that 1/8" would be close enough. I just think the...

Clutch slipping, can it be adjusted?

Since i am getting a clutch education, does anybody have the "specs" of the clutch? I am not trying to redesign it, just trying to find out if Napa or similar may have one. Even if the price is way hi, at least i could research easier thru commercial truck parts stores with a napa # to...

Clutch slipping, can it be adjusted?

I thought i read in a different post that a clutch kit was in the 3-4 hundred range. That's excellent news :jumpin:. I was just about to ask you (from your thread) that you found some common part numbers??? and what were they? If the flywheel and pressure plate arnt smooth, how much does...

Clutch slipping, can it be adjusted?

yeah, me too.... and i don't have the $3-400 for parts. I guess I'm screwed:evil:

Clutch slipping, can it be adjusted?

there was absolutely NO free play. Tomorrow I will remove the rod with clevis that attaches to "hole 16" and try to adjust it to have some free play as described. I have no way of knowing if it was readjusted due to wear or not till i have a baseline with free play to try driving it from. If i...

Clutch slipping, can it be adjusted?

Ok so i went back out there and I tried to move the lever to check for freeplay. I FOUND SOME INTERESTING THINGS... I couldn't move it by hand from under the truck. The only way I could actuate the linkage to measure anything I had to reach outside the frame rail and grab the lever just...

Clutch slipping, can it be adjusted?

i get all that... I just wasn't sure if i could get a good feel of the free play with the other linkages on.

Clutch slipping, can it be adjusted?

That is a clever way... I will check it out.

Clutch slipping, can it be adjusted?

I know they must add a tremendous amount of extra wear but ohh well... It's the closest think you can drive on the road to driving a full blown monster truck. :) i have a few quick questions about the adjustment. I just took a quick peek under there after reading thru the TM about it. I am just...
