Welcome from Kansas City, MO. I also had trouble with my battery terminals melting. I switched to Interstate MHD31 batteries with the screw posts. They work great. I'd check out the whole brake system to make sure everything is working well.
Yep. They didn't quite make it as simple as it could have been but they did do it in a way that makes you check several things at once which isn't such a bad thing either.
Nice truck! Ditto. Check everything and keep it well maintained. Buying a surplus vehicle is always a guessing game but if the description of fairly accurate that's a helpful start.
You might give the police the plate and description of the vehicle as suspicious. Who know what else they might be up to. The police could even be looking for it in connection to other suspicious acts or crimes.
I agree with finding a place to keep it while you're gone. If someone wants it badly enough they will get it but if it's kept somewhere else it would take them forever to find it.
