The new springer seat cushions that I ordered from Memphis arrived on Friday. They weren't straight replacements so I had to do a few modifications to make them work. I decided to go ahead and sandblast the springer seat base and repaint it while it was out. It turned into a long day but I like...
Well, she's riding on the new T-Hawks now. It took the tire shop all day to get all 11 wheels broke down and remounted. 10 new tires, 8 new tubes and 6 new flaps. The best of the old, right front, became the new spare.
All of them went ok except for the spare. They had to really work on that...
Michael has continued to build more trucks with LEGO parts. He's got great skills at seeing a truck and then building what he sees with LEGO parts and pieces. He recently spent the day with his grandad at his grading and hauling business. Now he builds dump trucks.
Thanks gringeltaube. It made sense for the resistor to be in line. I was just not expecting the resistor to get as hot as it does. The other thing I'm not comfortable with is how to properly secure the resistor to prevent mechanical stress/damage to the resistor and to prevent heat damage to the...
I'm glad to know you guys made it home ok. I've been following this story and I hate that you had to leave your trailer stranded on the highway. I actually woke up about 3:00am thinking about it.
I live about 3 hours from Knoxville in north Georgia. The company I work for has several trucks...
See if these two photos help. I can take more after this rain passes sometime tomorrow. It's pouring now.
One of the connections is just off of the thermostat housing and the other is off of the water pump housing.
I used boiler valvles to provide an "on/off" function for the hot water...
I did get a chance to go by the MVPA show in Kennesaw on Sunday. There was some really nice trucks on display there. I picked up a 5-gal gerry can for my deuce. I kind of hated that empty can holder on the driver's step.
I also ran into Squirt Truck there. That 5-ton of is is a beautiful...
Like many others, I've been working on getting ready for the Georgia Rally. I'm loaded up wth firewood and I put a 1000 pounds of sand bags in the bed directly over the rear tandems. That should improve traction on the trails. My camping gear is checked out and waiting in the garage to be...
I've got an "extreme" duty twin compressor ViAir system on my civi vehicle. It does a good job for airing up tires, blowing the air horns, etc. It will run an impact wrench for about 10 seconds. There's simply not enough volume for air tools.
That just means that IF you are testing for CDL and IF you have air or air over hydraulic brakes, then you need the air brake endorsement.
We run commercial vehicles in Georgia every day and we have two fleet specialist on staff and we have a public safety come in every couple of months to...
The short version: you need to do everything. Drain all axles, transmission, transfer case. Remove all bearings, clean and repack. Refill everything with new gear lube. Grease all the zerks. Inspect and clean the clutch.
Ash long sleeve large - qty 1
Tan short sleeve med - qty 1
Tan short sleeve small - qty 1
(that small is for a skinny 11 year old boy. Is that extra small?)
Black short sleeve med - qty 1
I'll pick them up from you at the rally. Thanks.
Finally got around to finishing up the heater installation this weekend. Well, almost finished. I still have to install the 4" ducts to connect the heater core to the diverter.
The heater core seems to work just fine with no leaks and making good heat. The blower works on both high and on low...
I swapped out the passenger side boot this morning and it went much faster than that first one yesterday. It was less than 2 hours from the time I started bringing out the tools to the time I had everything done, cleaned up and put away.
I'm glad I got that old boot off of there, as it had a...
Michael (my 11 year old) and I decided to go into town for a bite and he wanted to take Betty instead of the FJ.
I gave him a choice between Red Lobster and Hooters. He chose Hooters. We had crab legs and salad and then decided we needed to go see The Expendables 2. Now, how cool is it for an...
That looks fun. My deuce has been alone since she left Clinto's house on December 31 last year. I hope she gets a chance to run with a heard at the rally.
I installed my remote reservoir kit and that was a piece of cake. It's really nice to be able to glance at the reservoir every time I get in the truck and know the fluid level is ok.
I also got flat repaired locally at S&H Tire and they did a good job. I removed it from the truck and just...
