Cargo Bed Dump Conversion Hinge Designs

Here is the first dump I did- https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?50583-Started-my-dump-conversion&highlight=dump I used 2" square tubing under the frame rails. One reason is I wanted to reinforce the frame rails (cargo beds have light frame rails compared to purpose built dump beds)...

    Big rear winches

I'm looking to add a rear winch to my military Mack RD822sx. I've got a M936 45k drag winch already mounted on one of our civilian KWs and it's not very handy. It's just too slow, especially paying off cable. I'm wondering if one of the winches off of say a HET works better? I've never used...

M925 M925A2 dump bed hoist install

That's basically what I did on my deuce dump. I used a old set of troop seat standards and bolted a swinging tailgate (that I fabricated) to the standards. I thought I had a pic but can't seem to locate it. I've got it where I can swap back to the factory tailgate by just removing a couple of bolts.

    Going to Florida

The main thing is that you be part of the rescue instead of having to rescued yourself and become part of the problem.

Winch brass gear is black !

I agree. It's not like it's a high speed part. I run John Deere corn head grease in all my winches.

    Help, wagon identification.

I've got a old bomb trailer but It doesn't look quite like yours. Mine appears to have the same size tires but no brakes. They were mostly used to move bombs around on the tarmac and on aircraft carriers. I don't recall any of the numbers but mine has USAF on the data plate.

Deuce Garwood winch, strip down and repair?

The lever breaking is the most common thing to break on these winches ( drum lock is second). What happens is the lever gets stuck and somebody tries to force it. It will always break right where the retention grove is. The lever just has a lot of leverage compared to the shaft diameter at the...

    Mack RD822sx

I don't recall who my truck was built for but it wasn't the Pelletier's. What is strange is the truck was built in 1985 but it appears that it sat unused, or used very little until the military procured it in 1991. I don't know if the original guy that ordered it backed out or what. I'll dig my...

    Deuce moves 240,000 lb load

Yes, it's the same truck. As a mod, I won't delete post simply because I disagree. That could be seen as an abuse of power.

    Deuce moves 240,000 lb load

Do you think it wouldn't pulled it if I had put it in gear? It would have. If I had pulled it down the road, I guess you could say " the deuce didn't pull that, any engine, trans, and axles could have done the same". Good grief, please inform me what parts make up the truck and what parts...

    Deuce moves 240,000 lb load

The big crane is a Liebherr LTM 1400, 500 US ton capacity. The smaller crane is a Liebherr LTM 1220, 265 US ton capacity.

    Deuce moves 240,000 lb load

G, I Love them too, after they are over. This project has been months in planning. There were floor load concerns and questionable ground conditions involved. We had everything calculated and engineers involved but if things had went really bad, it would have all landed right in my lap...

    Deuce moves 240,000 lb load

The autoclave will go out that hole in the wall you see. We will roll the one end out through the door, hook onto it with one crane, continue rolling it out the door, and when we get to the other end, attach the other crane. From there it will go to the ground, in position to be loaded on a...

    Deuce moves 240,000 lb load

No trade secrets. Simple as jacking your car up to change a tire or moving a fridge on a dolly, just on a much larger scale. Of course, the shear size complicates things but the principles are the same. Yes, we fabricated a saddle to fit the radius of the autoclave to jack from. Another thing...

    M35a2 brake inspection and service

I don't have any local info on who would perform this task in your area. If you do find one, it will cost you a small fortune though. It could be nothing more than needing a adjustment but you need to do a detailed inspection to make sure. Personally, I'd read up on the TMs and find out how...

    Deuce moves 240,000 lb load

The math calculates line pull to be about 12,000 lb. There is some safety factor in that number so actual pull is probably less. All the pulling is being done by a 10,500 HMMWV hyd winch mounted at the front of the bed. This line is running through one block to change direction, to the...

    Deuce moves 240,000 lb load

We used a Enerpac jacking system. You can see the pump unit in this pic.
