It allows the tailgate to open over the towing pintle on the back of the trailer. A field piece could be towed behind the ammo trailer. We picked up a couple of M332's in Gurnsey Wyoming and later encountered someone stationed there who told stories about his driving a deuce towing a string of 5...
Thanks for the post Steve. I am still chasing after parts. I find something, but hit walls of silence while people try to figure out what the part is worth and how they can make a buck because they know where it is and I don't. I thought this would be hard, and it clearly is going to take a...
I think Fred LaPerriere had that problem when he restored the cabinets in his weather truck. His wife was reportedly fussed that the "better than her kitchen cabinets" oak work in the weather truck got painted O.D. Maybe his MVPA awards have taken some of the sting out of having to paint all the...
Exactly! However, in spite of their bulk and difficulty in shipping a truck and trailer that could not be "knocked down" or in some way compressed for shipping, they wound up in some pretty far flung places. I found pictures of a couple of K-18 remains in a Papa New Guinea scrap yard. Not...
I think rarity is more a function of production dates, and the need for all wheel drive. As the K18 was being put into service, the Government was planning how to overcome the shortage of equipment for an expanding army by mass producing essentially the same vehicle for as many mission profiles...
Garbee's website with some M2B photos. Most are R2's, but at the end of the page there is a section with some M2B photos.

The better number is 130 M2B's built and as best as I can determine, 308 or 312 of the Air Force R2's were built. There seems to be a different mindset in the purpose of the two trucks. The Navy M2B truck had a foam spray nozzle, chemicals and water on board, no winch and seems designed to...

Plowboy came up with this series of photos. It sold October of 2014 for $6500. This is the most complete M2B I have seen (actually only seen one of these in person and the rest I have found have been photos.)...
I think both the M37's will be runners rather than parts. We had a good windshield frame that we traded 70 Deuce for a spare snatch block out of his wrecker. Check the club as I think there is an M37 project truck that is available. I bought the hard cab.
Steve, You are correct in your thinking. The M56 is essentially a foot longer wheelbase with a fishplate added to the frame. AND as I discovered late in my life, a frame that was manufactured out of slightly thicker steel. As I recall it was either 1/64 or 1/32 of an inch thicker. There is an...
I did some overnight research on Tangen Power Take Off's. Anthony Tangen patent was around 1936 with improvement patents for several years. There is an eBay listed sales flyer for the
Tangen Power Drive dated 1951a that shows it as a top mounted unit bolting on in place of the shifter cover...
Steve, This helps some as there is a better view of the top mounted PTO. I had found the old ad, but not the extra pictures. I notice there is a tank in one of the photos. I suppose those get pulled as they are probably aluminum. I wonder if the single doors on ours was a later change between...
plowboy, FYI the M220 body is pretty much the same as the M109 body. Only difference I could find was the mullion that the black out shades slide in is a little different extrusion. You could use a cab-n-chassis and a later body to make an M220.
Plowboy, If you dig a little further, the 200 made mention in the ad for the one that sold around Grand Junction, turns out to be 130 of the M2B's and 312 or 308 depending on the source for the R2 Air Force truck. Jollyroger is just back in country and we are getting things rolling again. I have...
Seeking information on the Navy M2B crash/rescue truck. We have recovered one in need of many parts and lots of work. In particular, we need information on the Transmission and Power Take Off set up. Would like to find the manufacturer of the foam spray nozzle.
Thanks for the info. Poor truck is parked on the muddy farm right now. We have been waiting first for the snow to melt and then for the rains to let up for the fields to dry so we can move her without wallowing in the mud. I did find a trailer I wanted to tow with our M220, but I frankly got out...
