My question about wheel base has to do with the van body as shown in the old photos and indicated as a K18 Radio Truck. I guess, what I am wondering is if the production numbers previously given are just for the K18 and that was the only use of that body. If there were actually more of these...
Is it possible there are two different wheel bases to this particular 4x2 cab and body configuration? It is next to impossible to find specifications on the 1.5 ton GMC COE.
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?70703-M220-AirPak-rebuild
When we did our M220 air pack rebuild/conversion the only difference we found between the M220 air pack push rod and the M54 air pack push rod was the length of the rod.
Thanks. It was a lucky find. Hard to believe the Army kept one in use (all be it not much use) for 55 years. I did buy an M109 for parts because I thought the van bodies were all the same, but I discovered the black out window mullions were different extrusions. At first blush, things look the...
Sorry, perhaps I have missed something. There are two M211's over in South Park listed in the SS classifieds, but I can't seem to find any M220's. You can replicate an M220 by using an M109 van body on an M211 and few would notice the differences in the van bodies. My own M220 has had several...
I haven't seen anything lately. I heard GL had exhausted the supply of M35's (M109's) so it would seem most likely would be something off GSA or a private party.
last photos from today
It is hard to see in the photo of the tool box with all the ropes, but there is another rope hoist with the pull to lock feature that appears to be larger than the rope hoist in the tool box with the fan belts. ~~ The dates on the photos are incorrect (camera batteries...
Photos of the tool boxes
We still did not dig to the bottom of the tool boxes. It looks like our cold Colorado weather did not freeze the spiders and we were out of time after installing the batteries and trying to kick the engine over.
Besides the top of the tool boxes there are some photos...

Jollyroger and I took some time off from business this afternoon to try to check out our M816. We installed the batteries we had taken with us back last August and we made an effort to start the truck. No luck, but we think we ran it clear out of fuel when we jump started it on...
It was so hot in the desert outside of Barstow (107degrees early in the am when we entered the DMRO) that it was hard to touch the metal parts of the truck for any length of time. We cut off the padlocks withan 18 inch bolt cutter only to find a 36 incher in one of the tool boxes. We brought...
Yes, the step is missing. The master cylinder was found laying on the cab floorboard and the brain box was missing. The batteries were missing as was a fuel tank cap. The bumper vise and vise plate is missing and the front winch gearcase is broken. It appears the missing vise, vise plate and...
To: Steel and Canvas ~~ Thanks! It has been a long wait to get this one home. This one should fire and run soon enough to put it in the St. Pat's event.
To: swbradley ~~ Yes, it was overkill, but that can happen when you find a trucker who is a thousand miles from home and needs a backhaul. And...
There have been a number of times I have found M37's (same fuel and electrical as M43) stranded on a high Colorado mountain peak thinking they were vapor locked. In fact they had their gas cap's screwed all the way tight not allowing any air to the fuel tank. The Fording Systems had a pull cable...
M43 Santa Run
Ghostdrivers place of employment decided to help out a young solider's family with some Christmas presents. The delivery sleigh was Ghostdriver's M43 "Faith". Here is a photo of the present loading followed by Mr. & Mrs. Santa arriving at the young soldiers home (he was home for...
ressurection displayed
Ghostdriver has managed to get her M43 out to be seen. Here are a few photos of an elementary school honor the veterans event that the Military Vehicle Collectors of Colorado provided some back ground displays.
More shop construction with M37
I snatched a couple more photos of Moosetracks son's shop project that included his M37. They manged every thing to "dry in" but some doors before the snows arrived in ernest.
