I just got some photos from Moosetracks. His M37 is helping his son erect a new steel building to keep their fleet of ATV's, Snowmobiles and assorted other toys and vehicles from being lost for the winter under the snow.
York Hoover van body
I found a couple of photos of the York Hoover Van body. The trucks they are mounted on in the radar set up photo are not Autocar's, but you can see the difference in use of the van body with one for the generator and the other for the "electronics".
If anyone just...
Gamagoat1 has sent me a couple of his videos of the "STUART" tank unloading for the air show. He had difficulty with uploading to SS so I will give it a try. (click on the yellow IMAGO***.wmv to start the video)
I have to apologize again!! It is a STUART Light Tank as 70 Deuce so correctly pointed our earlier. In any case it is a really neat piece of WW2 history and it runs and drives.
My BAD
I have to apologize to everyone. I have been referring to the tank at the Air Show as a Lewis tank and it is a STEWART Light Tank.
A couple more photos of the tank and the display signs will confirm my mistake.
Lewis tank loadout
I found a couple photos of the "STEWART" not Lewis Tank load out. I watched the halftrack load as well, but missed getting any photos. Wish I had taken some videos. Last year there were lots of videos, but so far no one has posted anything in the way of movies. The heavy...
I think all CCKW/CCK bed acessories would be too small. Tillie is almost 18 feet from the back of the cab to the rear of the frame. The bumper hits most people about in the nipples. We checked out a CCKW shop van body early on, but the wheel pockets in the body (built for 7.50 x 20 tandum duals)...
While a good idea, Jollyroger and I have joined forces and purchased an M816 Wrecker from Goverment Liquidators. An M819 might have been a better pruchase because of the longer boom and 5th wheel, but maybe another day.
"So many to own, so little time"
mactiredearg I went through all the photos we have and that was the only one with doors open showing the bunk beds. I think your M109a4 has to be the newest at the airshow given that the title shows it as a 1998. I am still working on finding the year of the old Ford Ton and half Cargo Truck...
Jollyroger gave me copies of all of his photos plus the better than 100 I took so all together I have probably 250 or so to look through. I will see if we have any others that show your M109a4 with the rear doors open.
Wallew ~ Thanks for the congrats. Missed you for sure. I think the M109a4 is titled as a '98 or '96. Mactiredearg got soaked hard on the licensing fees and you know how Colorado likes to make more money in their fees. I think the oldest rig there could be a toss up, but it is possible the Ford...
Old and New
Someone commented on the years of aviation history with the spread of time from P51 to F22 aircraft. I wonder what the spread is amongst the Military Vehicle Collectors of Colorado displays. I did not see any of the WW1 trucks displayed this year so the oldest vehicles would have to...
a few more photos
A few more photos. I am trying to find the ones we took of the Half-track and tank loading out, but I guess those will have to be later.
And it takes a roll down of the driver's door window plus a dislocatable elbow to get the tire rack loose before you can open the door. Ghostdriver told me that a ride along medic was nessary to help the driver get out of the ambulance,
Two years on this paint. Rustolium oil base flat spray painted with acetone thinner. Very few cracks showing now, but no peeling. Vinyl cover was very old and worn before paint. Pressure washed before paint. I have a larger problem with rust bleeding through on both the truck and trailer, making...
