Well I'm definitely not paying $2100 for a new Banks. I am also using two brand new military 6-TLs. I may end up holding off if I have to deep six a couple hundred dollars worth of batteries to fit it in.
Just do a search on this CUCV forum. Plenty of good information. Here's a pretty good thread:

So 67_C-30, thanks for the comparison of Banks vs GM turbo setups. Leads me to another question. When using a GM setup will I be able to keep both batteries and both alternators?
I'd just end up with one turbo. Seller wants $600 for the stuff in the first photo. I found a very similar setup from another seller for $400. No engine, just all of the turbo pieces. Second guy has both manifolds and down pipe but no crossover.
Mike
Thank you. I found a similar setup 50 miles from me with no crossover pipe for $400. 200k on the truck it was pulled from. Seems like a lot of miles on the turbo for that price?
Great thread! I would like to know if a custom bent crossover pipe is mandatory or will the factory crossover from a later model 6.5TD work if both matching manifolds are used? I assume a muffler shop will need to custom bend one for the earlier truck setup, but just wanted to know what to look...
That's helpful, thank you. So if I had both manifolds off the newer truck then the crossover should work? What are the rest of you guys using for manifolds?
Thanks for the response FMJ and also the link to your thread. I did not see that on my searches. I am getting excited about rounding up parts for a turbo install and any pointers would be appreciated an what all I will need for the swap to my 6.2.
I now understand the part about mechanical...
For quite awhile I have not had much interest in doing this since kits run up around $3000. After reading some of the posts around here and looking at used stuff I have become more interested in adding a factory turbo from a 6.5. It also seems that piecing individual parts together may be a...
There is a 1008 here locally with a 454 gasser and a 12v conversion. Aftermarket wheels, tires and a paint job. I agree, it's really no longer a CUCV. Just my opinion. My truck now has 35k an the odometer and runs like a top so I'm really not interested in a swap while it's working so well. I AM...
See what happens when you do too good of job? LOL.
I can really understand where you're coming from as I have a full time home based business and it is just me. I have to do it all, phone, emails, pick up and deliver cars, and find time to work on them in between. My accounts ask me why I don't...
I would LOVE to have a Duramax/ Allison swapped into mine. As far as gasser fuel mileage, with the 37's on the truck I doubt it would be much worse than it is now. Just wouldn't want to go the gas route. I doubt I'll be doing any kind of swap as I'm not after a high dollar truck and it runs...
Yes this is an old thread. I just found it on a search trying to figure out if these motors were rebuildable as I saw an armature in eBay. I had the same issue as the OP where the wipers would move very slowly and stop on longer trips until cooled down. The washers did not work either.
I...
Agreed. Search on this forum is really time consuming and you usually have to weed through a ton of stuff that does not pertain to what you are looking for.
