That's the way I see things C-30. With these tiny outlet stock manifolds or the small outlet on the turbo when going that route, dual 4" pipes are WAY overkill. Looks cool but lots of needless $$$ spent. I'd stick with 3" max. True duals on a stock application is fine, as well as a single 3"...
That's the main thing that i am trying to avoid as mufflers catch on a lot of things off road. My original plan was to go to a single exhaust with a crossover from an '87 350 truck app and have the muffler in the bed with a pipe and heat shield (like a semi tractor) I really don't know how you...
Well right before I sprung for that turbo I did one last eBay search. I saw the exact same photo on another turbo from a salvage yard. This seller admitted using a "stock photo" as he called it and was put out when I asked for a photo of his actual turbo so I passed. Back to square one with that...
Vhyle, I figured you'd find a pushrod problem once you pulled it apart. Like recovery4x4 said, these rods are so hardened they don't tolerate side loads. A stiff pump will not break these rods as it takes side pressure not straight pressure. Something went wrong during installation. Perhaps the...
I'm a HUGE fan of plastic fuel tanks. Almost all new vehicles use them and have for many years with absolutely no issues. Came from a Chevy dealership and have seen many a rusted out MESS of steel fuel tanks dropped out of older trucks and cars. Plastic tanks are always in pristine condition...
Still think your problem is with the new fuel pump or the installation. Again I have to ask about the fuel pump push rod reinstallation during the pump replacement.
Does it matter what year 6.5 the setup comes from? I know the wastegate actuator will need to be modified to mechanical but are there any other drawbacks to using a setup off a 2000 Chevy truck?
Very true. I like my 1008 in mostly stock form, but I also like doing some natural improvements that I feel would have been good ideas from the factory to make them more usable for what they were intended for. Many folks are ok with adding lifts but since I am now considering adding a turbo I...
Sounds like the new pump isn't pumping fuel. Did you get the push rod back in the hole right before putting the new pump on? Pack it with grease to hold it in position? It's not sucking air from a loose or damaged line is it?
I've had to bleed my system a couple times now and I've found it very easy to do. First, open the valve at the fuel filter and crank it until fuel flows out the drain tube. Should only take a few seconds. Tighten the valve and then crack open all 8 lines at the injectors and crank until they all...
