Need advice on rim paint color/ type

Under MY layer of paint is 2 layers of CARC. I wore several wire wheels to the nub trying to get through it. I finally gave up and sprayed over it. I think whoever blasts them clean will be cursing for awhile..

Need advice on rim paint color/ type

I think I will either just paint them or find a fur-lined lug wrench! But I did hear once that powdered sugar was ok...

Funny you should mention that 'cause I'm going to have the lug nuts painted fluorescent pink!

24th arizona military vehicle show january 24-25, 2015

Not sure what that has to do with the thread, but anyway: im vergangenen Jahr hatten sie eine 68 Tonnen-britischen Häuptling Kampfpanzer. Very cool! (last year they had a 68 ton British chieftain main battle tank! Very cool!)

The black definitely provides a different look that I like.

Need advice on rim paint color/ type

Thanks guys! I'm getting 1100 X 20 G177's. I'm aware of the "death wobble" issue with them and hopefully I won't have any problems with that. I have never dealt with powder coating before. The only reason I'm considering it is they will blast and paint the rims for $40 each. Lug nuts for $2 ea...

    Fiber vs. Copper crush washer

I agree with Rusty- if it's not leaking you're fine.

NOOB Question: Which truck to buy? Hi hours low miles or high miles low hours?

Ditto on ignoring the gauges- frequently changed, so not a reliable indicator of vehicle condition.

Need advice on rim paint color/ type

I'm replacing the tires on my 1983 A2 deuce and while I have them apart I want to clean and paint the rims and lug nuts. My primary dilemma is what color to paint them. Option 1: Sandblast and powder coat with satin black. Con- they are currently painted to match the truck, Marine Corp. forest...

You left before I could tell you to take a chiropractor with you! :-)

    Non-catalyzed Paint Durability

I sprayed my deuce with Gillespie 24052 (Marine Corp forest green semi-gloss) and thinned it with Xylene. It went on fine and dried hard but 3 months later it faded to dead flat. It also water spots terribly using hard or soft water. The paint was applied in Phoenix in February and the temps...

    It's A Thing Of Beauty...

Judging by some past posts for "parts wanted", you could probably sell the rear window for $1000! It's a much sought-after item. :-)

    Deuce Power steering question

If you want full hydraulic p/s try www.waterloospecialties.com. One of our members sells a kit there made just for the deuce. It's not cheap though- around $3k. Good info there also. The other option is the air assist unit which I have on my deuce. Not as good as hydro but much better than...

    Adding a winch

Seems like the original deuce winch is a dinosaur- takes 2 two safely operate and it's huge. Is the electric winch as capable?

    stolen from the past times

In 1983 the Gov't paid $78,000 for my A2. In 2012 I paid $5,000 for it. It had been used by the Az. Air Nat'l Guard and was very clean when I got it. No damage and no mechanical problems. Not a bad deal- for me. :-)
