Wait- you spent $2000 just on headlights? Do they shovel snow or cook breakfast?
Boy, I thought adding A/C and a good set of safe tires to my deuce were my best upgrade- better go check my headlights now. lol !
Wish I had your budget! :-)
Well, it's finally done! The rims were powder coated satin black and the lug nuts were sand blasted but not painted. I rattle canned the front lugs black and left the rears unpainted. They actually look pretty good unpainted.
The tires had some CARC overspray I couldn't remove so I cleaned them...
Haha-u funy man- u go now..
My mustache was broken for a long time which allows that end of the shoe to "flap in the wind" as your driving. I discovered through experience that replacements will continue to break until the shoes are properly adjusted.
It was much cheaper to have a local brake...
Before I serviced my parking brake, it took a pretty good tug on the handle to set the brake. The nut on the end of the cable was too corroded to remove so I had to cut it off to remove the brake shoes so i could have them relined- that meant buying a new cable which wasn't in the original plan...
Here are some pics:
The first shows how mine was originally attached with the cotter pin. The second shows how it is now connected- I ended up going to Ace hardware and finding a replacement spring and it fit through the hole without the cotter pin and does not fall out. The third shows the...
Correct. When I replaced mine, the spring was attached to a cotter pin in the hole on the arm. I don't think the TM shows the cotter pin but you need it.
It's a common hardware store part- nothing special.
I just talked to my contact with the 3rd party agent I use in Phoenix and she confirmed that they can no longer process new registrations for military vehicles- you must go to a state MVD office. Apparently there is some confusion over registration renewal. MVD has put some "code" on the...
As far as I know, Historic registration has no limitations on where you can drive. I know other members here in the Phoenix area that have historic registration and drive all over the state.
Oops, sorry about that- my bad. :-(
Castle Bravo mentioned something I had forgotten about- 3rd party agents not being able to process military vehicles anymore. I'm not sure if that is actually in effect now but I will call my contact tomorrow to find out and report back.
I'm not familiar with the weights of those vehicles or how they affect registration. Registration fees in Az. are usually determined by the value of the vehicle- that's why it gets cheaper as time goes by.
It doesn't matter what kind of plates you have- some have Historic plates, I have Freedom...
Tom, I was just wandering around the site and decided to poke my head in here and see what's going on. I'm not familiar with the truck that's going to be home to this engine so I was wondering if you're concerned about braking? Does the truck already have some kind of upgraded brakes?
Yep- that's it! Very interesting stuff I never even thought about. Thanks for posting the link. I'm no mechanic and I am constantly amazed at how much goes into designing and building a motor ve-HIC-el. :-)
