If you don't mind getting away from the original Facet brand pumps ($250 each) most any low pressure (5-8 PSI) 28V electric fuel pump will work with a very little re-plumbing. If using after market fuel pumps you may not be able to use the aux fuel from an external tank.
OK I just looked it up. The diodes used in the 002A and 003A generators are rated at 12 amps and 400 volts. Any diode of the same or greater ratings can be used as replacements as long as they "fit" in the allotted space and as long as they will bolt up to the heat sink. Remember some of the...
Thanks Chainbreaker. They are just common stud mounted diodes. Normally the stud mounted end is the cathode. The R in the top one means REVERSED configuration where the stud is the anode. I think I can take it from here.
No numbers that I can find. Having been in electronics all my life I imagine from the application that these stud mounted diodes are just generic diodes that can be purchased for a few dollars each. All I really need to know is the amp rating. Most any 1000 PIV stud mount diode should work as...
UPDATE - After installing a new "reconnect box', replacing Q3 on the ACVR, installing a new ACVR, checking T1 and T2, then replacing the entire "gauge box" with a good one, and checking all grounds etc with no success, I took a break. All this tells me the problem must be in the generator...
I bought one of the new panels off ebay for $40 and I am very happy with it. Swapping out the old panel for the new one took less than an hour. I have also used a Dymo label maker to make front panel "stick-on" labels. They do not look very professional but they work and get the job done.
I never intended to "insult" anybody, especially those who are trying to help. All I meant is I have numerous VOM's and no one is best for all jobs. Actually I prefer analog VOM's but digital VOM's definitely have their place. A good digital VOM is probably best for reading a stable voltage...
Thanks - I have been a ham radio operator since the 1960's. I have built some of my own gear and I do a LOT of troubleshooting and repairs for other hams. However this 002A is getting the best of me. I really think the problem is a shorted winding OR a winding that checks OK with a volt-ohm...
Thanks - The test meter is Fluke 87 IV which is very accurate. It reads AC voltage and Hz. I do have a couple of working 002A generators that I can swap some parts off. If the AC VR from triplejim does not solve the problem I may have to resort to part swapping.
Posting a little more info in hopes somebody can offer some suggestions......As stated in the original post my friend has owned this 002A for 2 years. The voltage has always been unstable jumping from 240V to 310V and back several times in a typical 30 minute exercise run. I offered to try to...
I use Interstate group 24 batteries with a shim made from a piece of 2X4. I think group 27 batteries will work too. You cannot use the factory "hold down" assembly with either the 24 or the 27 batteries. I use a bungie cord across each battery to hold them down, but that probably is not necessary.
For the past 2 years a friend has owned a MEP 002A with unstable output voltage. It was like that when he bought it.
The reconnect switch has always been in the 120/240 single phase position. When started the output sometimes is 120/240 and sometimes it is 155/310. During a typical 30 minute...
Use a wire with an alligator clip on each end to jumper across CB3. If CB3 is "bad" you will get 120 VAC at the convenience outlet with the jumper wire installed.
First I do not have a 804A but I have refurbished around 32 002A and 003A generators. From what I understand, read, and have been told when using the 804A in single phase it will not provide any more power than a MEP 003A in single phase.
Just about every CT I have seen in 002A and 003A generators has cracked plastic coating and many have the plastic mounting "feet" broken off. Cracked plastic does not seem to matter in their operation.
As someone who has refurbished some 34 002A and 003A generators, yours looks and sounds OK to me - based on the video. There is a member on this site who makes digital Hz gauges that look just like the OE gauges and fit in the original hole and mount with the original holes - only digital. His...
Frequency is directly related to engine RPM, nothing else. 1800 engine RPM = 60 Hz. If your engine is running at a constant RPM then your Hz gauge or transducer or both are screwy.
As Isaac-1 said new and rebuilt Ambac M-50 IP's are on the "E" auction site right now. The prices are significantly less that what I paid several years ago. My advice is to get one while the price is low. While some on this site claim that rebuilding an IP is something that most anyone can do, I...
