It was my understanding that GP is the one stamping the SF97's with off-road use only, not the government. This would be no different than someone stamping a title for a personal vehicle they own, so it has no real legal basis. Its up to the state to decide if they want it on their roads or not.
Same thing was happening to mine. I have the 60 amp alternator and just replaced the voltage regulator board in the back of the alternator and it fixed the problem.
I have a set of windshield seals sitting in my garage that I've had for like a year and need to put in. I'm scared that when/if I get the old ones out I'll never be able to get the new ones in haha. Could you maybe do a writeup thing on how it goes?
I just used some washers on the outside, there isn't really much force on the brackets. As for the mats I doubt they help much with sound being that they have holes in them. I got them because crawling on the aluminum sucks, and since they have holes water wont collect under them.
Some pictures of where I put mine. I did have to sand down the welds on the divider so it slid inside the stock brackets, maybe that's why they surplussed them.
I'm wondering if this is a standard doughnut gasket that I could pick up at any auto store. I know what the military part number is but they are about $20 each and if its just a $5 doughnut I can get anywhere I see no reason to spend extra. Part number is 12338342 for reference.
Just for some information, my 6.2 with I assume 40k miles on it has around 25psi hot idle if I just got off the road, around 30-35 if I let it idle for a couple minutes. At speed the oil pressure seems to top out around 45-50. This is all with Rotella T 15w40 oil and a mechanical gauge.
The fan is definitely supposed to turn on at idle. With the motor off can you move the fan at all? It should be locked in place when there is no pressure from the PS pump.
Wait light not on usually means your control box is fried. I've been through 2 of those S3 boxes and I think they are complete garbage, both times they failed while the truck was just sitting. Luckily I had a NOS yellow label nartron box laying around and haven't had a single problem since.
Bought mine with 30k miles, it now just hit 40k. I did spend some money when I first got it to get it in shape, but since then its been great with no problems. I'm thinking they guy might be referring to spending 10k in all the cool mods you want to get, not just maintenance haha.
