I used the M105 springs since I bought the trailer for the bed anyway. Deuce front springs and hardware are pretty spendy if you have to ship them. I am not real keen on the lift blocks, but it gets the job done and is safe enough for what I am doing.
I singled and flipped my hubs. I can't...
I really like this idea, but have a bit of a siping/grooving-idiot question: the pattern you created is asymmetrical, does that make the tires directional? I.e. would you not be able to rotate them side-to-side (passenger to driver) on the truck for even wear? That would change the direction...
I did this same conversion not long ago, but Oreilly's was out of the 31-13, so I used the upgraded model (can't remember the number, supposedly the exact same as the 31-13 but made of better materials.) Those blades cost more, and came in a silver box. They also DIDN'T WORK. The 31-13's come...
Make a pressure bleeder. It doesn't destroy the cap, everything screws together and can be put back to original when you are finished. I bled my brakes in about 20-30mins with the pressure bleeder and got rock-hard brakes. That's a bobbed deuce, but still, that's a heck of a lot faster and...
Billy,
I have that same aubern pyro, where did you get your mounting bracket? I was going to fab one, but really like your dimpled bracket - is that one you made or bought?
Cheers....
Good call - this is on my to-do list as well. It doesn't fully engage until the handle is pulled all the way to the top, I never feel like I get it all the way set. Did you adjust at the handle or at the drum?
My Sherman had a good week this week:
re-bled the brakes and topped off the fluid
my first oil change! $125 bucks later :-(. The oil was in great shape though, no sludge and no shavings or metal pieces. The WMO was good enough I felt ok pouring it into the fuel tank.
fixed a stripped-out bolt...
Quad: I used the shocks from the M105 trailer I used for the conversion (edited my original post.)
Bobbed: I did mount one forward facing and one rearward facing. Good catch on the upside-down/water issue. I've never heard of a rock shield rusting from the inside that way, but I've never...
I used the leftover springs & shocks from the M105 used in the bob. I probably could have gotten a better angle with shorter shocks, but hey, these were free.
The job was simple and straightforward and seems to have worked (the ride is more comfortable than pre-bob, not sure how much of that...
I like the idea of painting the back of the gauge panel. I installed brighter bulbs, and drilled small holes in the red plastic casing behind the covers, all the way around the circumfrence, one every 1/16" or so. That REALLY brightened things up.
Also, something to consider - in CA the difference between bobbed and not, is class C vs class B license ;-).
I drove mine (singled) ~750 miles for a ecovery and then bobbed it. I noticed immediately that bobbed is less slugggish/gets up to speed more quickly, gets slightly better mileage...
I really like what I see in your setup; I like the graduated filtering and I really love the simplicity. Do you have part numbers for the bases? I am always struggling to pair bases with filters. I have a half-designed system in my head, but waiting to finish it until I have a steady supply...
I am trying to find an unuseable/non-serviceable airpack I can steal hard parts from for mine (which has a busted rear cover.) The usual suspects just raise an eyebrow when I ask about it. I have sent pm's to folks who have listed trucks they are parting out, but no dice yet.
Any ideas where...
The brass bushing which attaches the j-pipe to the rear plate on the airpack (covering the piston) sheared off. Liberal application of heat, PB blaster, and force did not get the remains removed from the cover. I drilled it out, but have not been able to get it clean of the threads. Currently...
