I am asking this question because I see new folks
saying they have been going 75 mph for 60 miles on the freeway. This is fine for a typical car nowadays,
but I am under the impression that that speed puts you over the rpm limit.
I would hate to see new members put in a lot of work on there...
Just an fyi. 3M makes a shrink tubing with glue on the inside. The stuff is fantastic for
all kinds of things besides just wire. For example: I had a pair of large nail clippers that used to slip and produce copious amounts of blood. Thae shrink tubing I put on the handle part is still there...
I repeat: DO NOT connect your batteries up until you replace the relay as
in the doghead mod which is in the CUCV helpfull hints.
Unless of course you want to burn up your truck.
That relay is stuck and routing power directly from the batteries to the solenoid/starter.

I believe that 3M makes shrink tubing with glue on the inside which melts when you shrink it.
If it were mine I would get a length of tubing that would cover the entire length of the wire.
not just over the splice. The proper way would be to find the correct replacement wire.
