What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

    No good deed goes unpunished.

Low on power, need assistance please.

A good start would be to change your fuel filters and make sure your air filter is clean. Sounds like fuel filters to me.

    Deuce fuel tank question

If it's just sludge, I'd just clean it out an re-use. If you have access to a farm tractor, you could try what folks over on the tractor forums do. Remove the tank, fill it with some gravel, chain the tank to the side of the tractor rear wheel, and go for a drive. Doing this will pretty much...

In need of some information. Location of VIN M35A2

From the info you provided, the truck is a 1971.

    Flat tire??

As has already been stated, check the core. Then get you a bottle of soapy water, squirt it all over the tire, and look for bubbles. One thing to remember if you do the repair yourself, put a mark on the tire where the valve stem is. That way when you get the tube out and find the hole, you can...

Re: Weights of items on GL

From my experience, at the sites I've been to, they actually weight pallets of stuff. On the larger stuff they often just go by what the data plate says.

    Meet DARYL

Maybe you should post it in a scrap iron forum.

    3 color NATO woodland question

That's exactly how I paint camo. If you don't get out your crayons and color in the numbers, you can make a mistake really easy when painting and looking at the pattern. The chalk deal just seems like more trouble than it's worth.

Idea for useing 12Volt in my Deuce

Sounds like it may work but sure seems to be a strange way about doing it. What are the specs on this 24v generator? I tend to think it's going to take quite a bit of 24v amps to run it.

    M105 What should I pay?

I think the highest I've paid for one was $300 (complete with cover), most I bought for $150 each (GL's minimum bid at the time). That was when GL was selling them by the hundreds though. I miss the days of sub-$1,000 deuces and $150 M105s.

    816 front winch failure...... Help

Looks like your just going to have to tear into it and see what you find. I don't understand the term "worm walking off the drum cog". Only way I could see that happening is if you had bad bearings or the worm exited the case. Either way, it would be obvious from looking at the outside.

    HF Jack Stands

Gimpy, that's the funniest thing I've seen in awhile, I got a pretty good laugh. The sad part is there is some truth to it though. I can relate to the 148-piece tool set. I got a HF socket set for Christmas, the set had several sockets that were in 64th fractions. Has anybody ever seen a nut or...

What do you have your air pressure set at?

You can never have too many tools. A decent gauge can be had for less than $20, I believe I'd just pick one up if I were concerned about it. With a proper fitting you could even use a tire air gauge. You should have one of these anyway if you own a MV (or any vehicle for that matter). As has...

    S-280 camper build

I worry about the quality of a lot of the HF stuff. I'll admit I haven't checked out their solar panels though.

    S-280 camper build

I could run some solar if I could find some cheap panels. Even if I'm out somewhere without generator or shore power, it will only be for a couple of days at a time. No more than the lights draw, I think the deuce batteries will hold up fine.

    S-280 camper build

Well I've been really busy at my day job and working a bunch of hrs. so I haven't had time to work on the shelter much. I did get my 24v florescent bulbs in. Looks like they are going to work great. I got them from this place- http://www.dyna-brite.com/ . I'd have to go back and look at the...

Artisan, I have no idea what you posted. :?

    So my battery EXPLODED today

I use that stuff all the time. I think baking soda works just as well but in the aerosol can you can get it into tight places you can't with baking soda.

    So my battery EXPLODED today

I know most of us don't do it (myself included) but you really should wear safety glasses when working around batteries. The battery explosion I mentioned earlier happened right in my face. A was adjusting a charging cable when it happened. Lucky, even though my face was covered in acid, none...

    So my battery EXPLODED today

I had a battery out in the open once so they can even blow when not in a closed environment.
