You should refer to TB 43-0242 "CARC SPOT PAINTING" You can probably down load it from the LOGSA web site. Oops, I just noticed this is a really old thread. Well, if you're still interested, that manual should give you the info you need.
Yikes!! Don't tell me that's all you bought the truck for. :( This place I told you about - the oak slats on them are in pretty poor condition since they've been stored outside for a long time but all the steel parts are deffinately good. You could sand and paint, put new oak slats in them...
Yeah, I hear you there. I bought mine back in `98 for $1500. They're getting more and more rare all the time.
The truck I mentioned came out of a state GSA Auction. About 7 or 8 trucks total: One M892 (2WD) One 1976 M880, and about five 1977 M882's. The highest any of them went for was...
dodgetruckin,
I got the 24 volt set from a guy who outbid me on the truck in an auction. He didn't want the parts so he sold them to me cheap. The truck didn't run at the time of the auction so I lost interest in it. I regret it now since all that was wrong with it was it had a flat tire and...
I know where you can get entire troop seat sides for $25.00 each. Unfortunately for you, the place is in Northern Utah - a little ways away from you.
Nice score Bob. So you say you bought it just for the troop seats and bows? You planning on taking those items off and then selling the truck?
Hello Lee,
I hope you stick around. You had some good posts on this forum and I'd hate to see you leave.
I wouldn't take the "warnings" personally. These guys just like to know where everyone is hailing from. I figure it's no big deal to add my location in the signature, since I am a guest...
Hello rdixiemiller,
thanks for your post, in regards to the whole thermoplast/thermoset/thermocure question, perhaps your terminology is more correct when speaking about paint. My terminology is coming from my understanding of plastics, although apparently paint and plastics share a good deal...
I think you've got a thermoset polymer confused with a thermoplast polymer.
Thermoplasts have only very weak crosslinking, and therefore can be reflowed by reheating without burning the material.
A thermoset polymer is like what you called a "thermocure." Once cross linking occurs between...

Great post!! Glad to have you here, and welcome to the forum. I guess I know who to come to now when I have questions about paint.
So here's a few: Are the solids the part of the paint that is left over after the...
Hello guys,
thanks for the replies. So what is Imron? I don't recall reading about that here. I think you're right about the "hexamethyl diisocyanates" being the hazardous part of the paint.
So one question I have: do the alkyd enamel paints have this nasty stuff in it, or they safer to...
THe following is an exerpt from TM 43-0139 "PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR ARMY MATERIEL"
2-31. CHEMICAL AGENT RESISTANT COATINGS (CARC)
a. General. Chemical Agents pose a devastating threat to sustained readiness in a combat environment. CARC paints were developed to minimize the impact of...
Hey Kenneth,
that looks like a pretty good price if other people don't bid it up. You ought to snag that.
Cool. Now if I can only find a cheap pair of wheels to go with it. I've currently got three 8.25" wide wheels but I need two more to complete out the set and a spare.
Yes they are actually. But I see from your reply in the "M880 with Humvee tires" thread that you already figured that out. Thanks for the posts all.
Wow! Sounds like you've got a S.S. playground there. I used surplus military shackles as well, I think they are a size used on the deuces. I don't remember what the pin diameter was, I just know that they were smaller than the...
