Hello all,
Since I couldn't find a copy of the MERDC pattern speciifically for the M880 in print, I decided to draw it in my self, tracing it from the M715:
Here is a shrunken down copy (forum allows no larger than 480X640 pixels) I saved in JPEG. I've actually been using a working copy in...
I get a vibration in my drive train between 60 - 65 mph which goes away at speeds above that. I've always suspected it had to do with a slightly loose chain in the transfer case that hits a natural frequency around those speeds, although I've never been able to confirm that. However, I used to...
Thanks guys. :) Nick, I can probably post a copy of the pattern once I get done cleaning it up. It got a little bit grainy in places as a result of the print and rescan process.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the compliments. As far as the pattern goes, here's what I did:
First thing to realize is that although the MERDC pattern isn't readily available for the M880, it is available for the M715, and the two patterns are identical. So I started with the NATO three color...
Thanks Larry. I'd like to get a set uf the 37" humvee radials, but I gues I'll have to be content with the 36" humvee bias plies I've got. Well, I posted some more pics I took tonight to give you a little bit more of an idea of the true colors in some brighter light, but I think it only made...
The green in the pictures is the PPG paint. The field drab is Gilespie from Rapco. At the time, Rapco was all out of the 34094 in the alkyd enamel, which promted me to look for an alternate source, thus I found the PPG 34094 (DAR46260 acrylic enamel). I'll have to get you guys some more...
Thanks JWC. I got the 30118 field drab and 34079 forest green from RAPCO, but didn't like the forest green at all (way too dark). I understand these are Alkyd enamel paints.
As luck would have it, after some research I stumbled across a very happy finding. PPG (an automotive paint) has the...
Thanks for the comments. Yeah, I've got a mild four inch lift on it, and I have a set of Humvee tires that are waiting to go on it as soon as I get the 440 swap complete.
Thanks guys, I've been waiting a long time to get this pattern just right. by the way Ugg013, yes I did follow a pattern to repaint this. It's not something that's easy to find so I had to do something a little "unconventional" to get it right for the M880. You're right, the MERDC pattern...
Hello all,
I just got back on the site, it looks real good. I've been busy doing a little painting. check out the pics here:

I decided to go with the four color MERC pattern from 1975. I think I really like it...
Hello all,
here's a few pictures' of my M880. I just repainted the four color MERDC pattern on it, however it's not entirely complete yet (some of the black and sand is not painted yet) So what do you think? I really like it. This is the "winter, US and Europe" four color pattern using...
Sure, I'd go for it. (the 16's on the M886, and the bigger 16's on the M882) but then again, I'm not exactly a purist in the strictest sense of the word. I'm running oversized 16's with a 4" lift on my M880. Deffinately WOULD NOT do the NDT's.
Yes, I'd definately recommend a Cummins swap instead. That's what I have planned for mine in the future. The 5.9L Cummins is a much more powerful motor, you won't be sorry.
I'll second what Recovery4x4 has said, and I'll add that you 've should also remember that these M880's are equiped (just like many `70's trucks) with full time four wheel drive. This means you are ALWAYS in four wheel drive. In order to handle this on the pavement, the NP203 transfer case has a...
Yikes! Can't say I've ever had my M880 that badly stuck. Did get "temporarily delayed" in some deep snow once up a nearby canyon though. I recall I got out with the help of a jeep that was driving by.
