Reviving this thread: has anyone actually USED one of these? I've been looking for a space heater for a tent for a while, this seems like it might work well, but I am naturally dubious until I can get a first-hand account.
Anyone have any experience using one?
Mine cleared today as well - woo-hoo! Here's the timeline for my first EUC:
Auction closed: 04/22
Paperwork submitted: 04/23
Sent to BC: 04/26
Emailed DRMS: 07/31
PIF: 08/05
Since my truck is a healthy distance, looks like recovery will be ~08/25.
I received my PIF invoice today! I am relatively certain the steps I took were effective in getting my EUC clearance moving along. It was a non-confrontational, professional approach working within the system that was ultimately effective. Highly recommended for those of you waiting for...
Today I received this happy surprise in my email inbox:
Sir,
The DLA Accountability office advises they have favorably assessed your
EUC today and advised GL of the clearance. I suspect you will be
hearing from GL soon.

So under advice from another thread I finally broke down and emailed DLA. I sent them a quick note inquiring about the status of my EUC and the apparent delay (100 days tomorrow!) They came back with a request for some additional info, which I provided and then I recieved the following response...
I read a seperate post here on SS where DRMS advised the buyer that because of the irridium in the gauges trucks were being moved from demil B/Q to demil F, and the vehicles were requiring a seperate & additional clearance certificate. Hence the hold-up.
I chatted with Jacinta at GL about it...
This is killing me! I've been waiting for this episode since the weekend after the 2nd installment aired, and now that it's finally showing I am out of the country. Argh!
X2 on the pic's, and maybe a wiring diagram? I can do very, VERY simple wiring (my most complex project was on-board air on my landcruiser with pressure cutoff switch and dash toggle, and that only had one relay and everything was 12v) and I am having a hard-time keeping the visual in my head...
Good for you C-30!
I'm up to 98 days. I used to read posts by guys who were at 100+ days and think "Man, sucks to be that guy....."
Serves me right I guess
Yep, that sounds like exactly what I saw. Bummer about how much space it takes though, it was perfect for what I wanted. Maybe I should just pack it into a trailer and keep it there in case of emergency? Then just back the deuce up to it, hook it up and away we go.......
Tks SCSG!
For heating I was planning on a tent compatible with a fuel-burning heater, and windows to open to ventilate to help cool it off.
I like modular, and love the idea of something with vestibules - then it's easy to do a cooking area, and seperated/enclosed latrine area. I saw something that...
Ok, while I was joking about the zombie apocolypse, I do really need some tent suggestions. I read a bunch of tent posts from different folks on here and saw some different thoughts play out, but they were primarily surrounding using the tent as a garage or short-term living conditions...
While reading SS I found out there is an (apparently) inevitable zombie invasion looming on the horizon.
So I plan to get a good tent for my family to live in during the apocolypse. Which tent would you recommend? Looking for something to house all 7 of us to live in for an extended period...
Good question, and to be honest I am not sure. He did mention though that there is a tow company immediately off base that has been very helpful in the past. Worst-case scenario I get them to drag it off-base for me.
Will definitely be insured for the trip. I will be getting a temp permit from the fabulous state of Kalifornia. Hopefully I am only driving the truck a few miles to another SS members yard, and we'll be going through it together before it hits the road for real. Then a few test runs (think...
I am trying to get a pallet of heavier stuff shipped to Sac CA. If anyone in the area can work out a deal for parts with ARDUECE and wants to go in on the shipping, PM me.
