Chevrolet must have used reject parts

Who knows what has happened to these trucks over the last 26 years. The red fender may or may not have been there since new. No way of telling at this point in time. And yes, GM DID have workers in a body shop that did rpairs to vehicles damaged on the line. My fiend used to work in the body...

    Single exhaust on a M1008

This suggestion seemed too basic to me but I just read on dieselplace.com where a member removed a 305 gas and dropped in a 6.2 and the crossover bolted right up.

    Single exhaust on a M1008

Many reasons. Mainly because the exhaust system is one of the more vulnerable component underneath the truck during off-road tactical procedures. :) I want to keep the system as simple as possible and tucked up out of the way without worrying about a pair of mufflers and a bunch of piping...

    Single exhaust on a M1008

I wouldn't think the manifolds would be the same(?)

    Single exhaust on a M1008

Thanks for the input guys. I'm looking for ANY single exhaust crossover that will fit my m1008. I should have worded my original question better.

    The M1008 lift project begins

Having a little fun checking everything stretched out and compressed.

Poll - Who has done the Doghead Relay Conversion

Going to do it soon. My truck must have had a recent issue before I got it. A nice shiny new relay is left dangling by the harness below the dash where it can be unplugged quickly in the event of an emergency...

    Lengthening front driveshaft M1008

Yeah I wish I wouldn't have bought that disconnect kit because for what I'll be using the truck for I probably won't have the pins in much if at all.

    Lengthening front driveshaft M1008

I finally got my brake hoses on this afternoon so I could check the front shaft at full droop. Nothing really changed at the splines. Still 1" exposed, 3" engaged. I forgot to pull the sway bar pins for the test, but I think I'm good to go.

    Single exhaust on a M1008

Does anyone know if the crossover pipe from an 88-98 6.2 truck will fit an 86 M1008? I am interested in a single run exhaust system.

    Lengthening front driveshaft M1008

I got lucky as far as vibrations go too. Actually much less driveline vibrations now than before. My t case lever used to get going pretty good at 55 mph and that has stopped.

    Lengthening front driveshaft M1008

Everything's back together and here's what I see. 1" spline showing at normal ride height, which means 3" engaged. I can't take any measurements during articulation yet as I have not installed my brake hoses. I would imagine the real test would be with the LF fully compressed with the RF at full...

    O.R.D. 4" Lift

    That's my plan.

    O.R.D. 4" Lift

What are you doing for a spare tire mount?

    O.R.D. 4" Lift

Wow, looks great! And familiar. I haven't changed my brake lines yet because I know it's going to snowball, but everything else is done on mine. No drop pitman arm as I plan on xover steering. The truck drives fine w/o it but with the bad angle of the drag link and the axle forward, a common...

    O.R.D. 4" Lift

Dave, been looking at the surplus combos with the Goodyear radials but I'm open. Mike

    O.R.D. 4" Lift

I was having the same issue with the centering pins. They would not simply drop into place in the perch holes and I didn't think they were going to work. However they did draw themselves in as I tightened the u bolts. I like the tight fit because I know there will be no slop to allow any...

    Lengthening front driveshaft M1008

I went underneath and actually measured. There is 4" of total splined length, and 3" of that is engaged into the front section at normal ride height with the 5" of lift and axle forward 1". I'll see what happens at full droop and go from there. Thanks!

    The M1008 lift project begins

Trying to gain more tire/body clearance because the first place a larger tire hits is the rear of the fender. As the front spring flattens out the axle will move rearward a little. The offset is in the zero rate blocks that are bolted to the spring pack.

    The M1008 lift project begins

The truck rides pretty good but I'd still like to remove 2 or 3 leaves in back.
