I didn't. The wheels on my truck are off the M1076 which has less offset than the MRAP wheels and the spud is on the outside of the wheel face so I could just screw in a straight valve.
I ran into this same problem with my wheels. Took me forever to find out I needed something called a tire valve spud that clamps in from both sides of the wheel rim. You screw the valve stems into those. I forget the size but you just need to measure the hole to find out.
I pushed mine out with a large bench vise and a socket on the back of the hub for room so the stud could get pushed out, not a single bent one. Beat them back in with the mini sledge.
Did this, its not a fun job really. Being 21 and going to the gym regularly I guess made the flywheel not much of a problem for me, but I did remember to mark its location before removal. Didn't knock my head on the open drivers door, instead as I was getting up the lower corner got me right in...
The front passengers side tire on mine goes flat after about 2 weeks, so I go out and run the truck to pump it back up. Gets me out of the house :) Also makes a great landmark, not many people have 6x6 in my suburban neighborhood.
But really its just cool to have. Something to work on when...
Well I got the rest of the m1076 wheels on, what a task. They stick about 2-3 inches in the front where I would prefer them to line up with the fenders but I'm not too worried. In the back they sit exactly as wide as the stock duallys so there shouldn't be any stability issues I've heard about...
I just used a bottle jack to jack up the leaf springs off the top of the axle, then put a little 2x4 where the shim was so as to not possibly damage the centering pins on the axle and spring.
That's the only picture I have at the moment. Just finished replacing the other wheels in the picture but it got dark. 2 down still all three on the drivers side and the passengers front to do. I live in jessup near the I-95 rout 32 crossover.
