    On Recovry4x4's M1010 that capped line is a fuel pick up for a generator if the truck had be a "contact maintenance truck". It worked well for the engine pick up.     Cucv's also have two alternators that keep both batteries fully charged. So pulling from one does not effect the system the way it would in a deuce.

    Deuce fuel tanks are line vented. No need for a vented cap. Think about your standard fording depth of 30 inches.

    Re: More engine problems (fuel system) I would bet the HH plunger is not stroking like it should. I ran my truck back home for 500 miles after the 12SSGR without a working lift pump. If the system is primed the booster pump will keep it going. A spare HH would be nice in a situation like this.
