    Arlington Airshow 2010

The latest I'd recommend is 8AM Saturday the 10th (preferably a bit earlier, 8 is when the gates open) they don't like arriving vehicles when the gates are open. It generally isn't worth coming just for Sunday but you can. Any arrivals after the gates open can be accomplished via the South...

    Arlington Airshow 2010

*Bump* This is an event you don't want to miss! There will be a number of unfinished vehicles and some will be really rough. This allows the public to see what lengths MV owners go through to restore these vehicles. Not all MV's come out of the Military in pristine condition and fresh out of...

PNW-2010-Second Annual Chehalis River Valley MV Convoy/Camp-Out

Bummer, can you make it to Arlington the week before? Admission is free for those who bring a MV.

Where to buy new rubber lashing for Deuce cargo tops ?

I found mine on eBay but I used the bigger 3/8" stuff and bought a whole roll. We are ditching almost all the ropes on the HEMTT cargo cover and end panels and replacing them with rubber rope, awesome stuff.

    Optima Battery - Which One?

Garbage batteries, I just lost two more today. You can't give me these now, climbing in front of the turret basket to replace them is just too much of a pain. BTW I had battery maintainers on each of them, always plugged in and they still pooped the bed. I can hardly wait 'till the next and...

Work on the baby HEMTT grinds to a start.

HEY, somebody cut one of the front axles off my truck ;)

Work on the baby HEMTT grinds to a start.

BEAUTIFUL Leonard, even the felt to help keep the grit out! Once that felt is packed with grease there will be no grit or water getting in there to gall that ball and socket. :D

4 battery coversion to 2 batteries

    battery

No problems for now, one will end up undercharged and the other overcharged as battery current has to go through both. The current doesn't just go where its needed in batteries wired in series except as Bjorn said when you have 2 - 12V alternators charging each separately. You WILL wind up...

    deuce and 10,000 pounds

Can electric drum brakes lock the tires of a loaded trailer, I really don't think so.

    deuce and 10,000 pounds

Just whatever you do don't tap just one battery for the 10-16 A of power needed for the trailer brakes. The resulting battery imbalance will make you sorry later . . . fat lady sings

    Thanks Stalwart

Let him make sure everything is in order before luring him 150 miles from home. I thought a 20 mile run is about max if he tries for the Arlington Airshow the week before. If the truck is ready, it's ready, otherwise there are other events or even next year. Breaking down on the road sucks, I...

We weren't professional, just careful and lucky! 4 chains plenty tight, checked often and speeds kept below 65 with slower speeds left for turns.

    I hate mornings

Thanks, it has been the best setup we've ever used. We had a semi once with a 30' rollback bed and it was nice to drive but this rig gives me a daily driver (F450) the rest of the time. A Toyota pickup tried to force it's way into my lane and the Toyota probably had several thousand in damage...

    I hate mornings

We started a recovery yesterday and it went without a hitch. A fine morning turned into an even better afternoon. :driver:

Nice going Leonard, that looks VERY professional! Regarding the socket ball ends, that seems to have been answered. I was my understanding too that you tightened until the spring binds slightly and then back off a bit to allow slight movement. Couldn't get right back to you in email, will...
