I have a supplier in England and I then imported them. My M42A1 Duster I found locally from a guy who traded with a National Guard Museum. I later traded the M42 for a V100.
Tracked armor can be expensive to purchase and operate.
Best of luck with that, hope you have better luck with them than I did, I'll never buy another. NEVER let it go completely flat, often they don't recover. They are VERY easy to mount, a lot of other battery Mfg. could learn a lesson or two from them.
You're right Datsun, I forgot to mention any of that.
A friend of ours who had an F350 and a flatbed gooseneck trailer for hauling his stuff stopped at a weigh station and asked and they told him he didn't need to stop. Some months later he was stopped passing the same weigh station, he being...
Yes TD, if you are doing it for hire. I don't stop at scales with my F450 at 35,500 GCVW even with a 26,500 lb trailer, I'm hauling all my own stuff and it's not for any commercial purpose. I do have a CDL, but that is because I had a truck that required one. Driving the HEMTT, I'm just not...
To me they are the nicest looking of all the Deuces. I had a pristine one that I gave a lot of money for, it puked the transmission the next day. I put in a rebuilt one from those monkeys at Memphis Equipment, it lasted 70 miles and I very nearly took the plates off and left it there beside...
72Kw is HUGE, and unless you have a LOT of air conditioners to run the engine will be worked too lightly and problems will occur.
Second, 400Hz is primarily for aircraft systems and it is of NO use in the home.
The military was stupid for putting 10W-40 oils in their automatic transmissions, I understand they didn't want to stock ATF but it has cost a lot of money and manpower replacing all those transmissions that fail early. They could always use 10W-40 on a combat emergency basis . . .
Welcome, in addition to many SS people in the area there are several fine clubs. The largest is the PSMVCC (Puget Sound Military Vehicle Collector's Club => psmvcc.org) with about 90 members and over 300 vehicles.
Sounds like a lot of work, I have mostly small armor which gives a new meaning to tight spaces. Still, I wouldn't want to have to change out the engine and trans in my HEMTT, but I'd rather do that than the engine in one of my Stalwarts. aua
Thanks for your service!
Also, since the vehicle is overweight for the running gear EMPTY, don't plan on hauling a bunch of people either. When I inquired about getting one my supplier told me he "wouldn't sell me one" even though he had one there. He said they were too prone to breakage and didn't want to hurt his...
We just installed 2 of these in the HEMTT, love 'em! Not as good for tall items but good for pop, beer or coffee:
Cabela's -- UTV Beverage Containment System
Look, AM General selling to the US Military couldn't be sued for liability as the were built to an accepted spec. AM General would be exposed to enormous potential lawsuits by the public for these vehicles not meeting crash or other safety standards. Built into the price of the civilian...
