You weren't lucky, he was incorrect that a turbo install will add smoke. Additional air in a Diesel will make LESS smoke, not more. More fuel = more smoke.

Sure did, I'd have to spend the $200 to send it back and they would "see" what was wrong with it. Then I'd have to pay whatever they thought would be fair, then another $200 to send it back to me. I gave the truck away and cut my losses. One of our local members had "rebuilt" one from them...
