I had an M42A1 Duster that come from Florida NG unit. I had a letter form the Secretary of the Army giving up all rights to it. Without that letter, you could be on thin ice.
M35A5's don't but neither do big trucks in the civilian market. The HMMWV is desireable to a broader market, I know AM General got their panties in a wad when those Marine Corps HMMWV's came out a few years back, they were pissed!
Very unlikely, AM General would have a cow. When they sell a civilian vehicle they figure in the price their insurance costs, and product liability (injury, death, normal ambulance chaser stuff). AM General never collected that money for the HMMWV because they were off the hook because it was...
I have a 1993 Civilian Hummer and mine is not derated! You are perpetuating an old myth, AM General could make improvements to the civilian rigs at will, for the military they would have to get Mil Spec. approval. The early HMMWV's had 1 1/4 ton payload capacity and inferior hub design that...
Perhaps so, just took it for a drive, with the shifter boot open I had a blast furnace of radiator air in my face. The HEMTT has made me REALLY soft all I could think of how nice my wife had it in the F450 behind me with the A/C running.
Thanks Bjorn,
I've looked all over, I'm starting to think Ford didn't bother to stamp them.
There's a guy interested in buying it and although I have a valid WA State title, his DMV is gonna want to see it stamped on the frame. The data plate on the M656 is screwed on, so they aren't gonna...
I need help locating where on the M656 series trucks put their serial number on the frame. I've looked at the obvious places, sanded some paint off and used brake cleaner and a rag to look for numbers. I've spent most of my time around the passenger frame rail but I can't find a thing. Any ideas?
I used the crane on the HEMTT the other day for the first time. WOW, I think I'll can almost get rid of my forklift now. Now I just need to make or buy a pallet lifter . . .
I was told that the C-5 required nearly 200 man hours of maintenance per flight hour (averaged over time). Early F-15 took about 15 as I recall.
Bigger yet, AN-224.
I have 7 vehicles with multiple steering axles and the arrangement goes from somewhat complicated to mind numbingly complicated. The arrangement in the Alvis Stalwart is the one that I would emulate with a simple beam on a fulcrum arrangement. Determining the ratio is the only difficulty.
I think Damon paid about $500/pr, they are better than my HID's and a GOOD HID setup isn't cheap. You cannot put a HID bulb into a std reflector and get a good pattern.
