The pipe stub for the lower radiator hose needs to go between the fan blades and then you have to manually turn the fan/engine while guiding the radiator towards its desired location. I have done that by myself but another set of hands would make the job much easier.

Very happy with 700R4 in M1009

Iceman, Thanks for your encouraging comments regarding the 700R4. I know that I am a little over-cautious since this is the first automatic transmission I rebuilt and I do not want to spend another weekend day yanking out a burned up 700R4 and putting the TH400 back in my daily driver. The fact...

There are several ways to control TCC lockup automatically depending on the type of valve body you have. If you google "700R4 TCC lockup wiring" you will find an abundance of options. However, keep in mind that a TCC can be fried even easier than the 3/4 clutches on the 700R4 if the engagement...

Voted for you but the old International wrecker is going to be hard to beat. Good luck anyways.

What axle ratios and tire diameters are you running in your CUCVs/Blazers?

Just completed a 600 mile trip without any issues. Got 21 miles per gallon staying between 65 and 70 mph on the interstate. That is impressive for a full size, lifted truck with aerodynamics of a brick and a whole lot better than I ever got with the TH400 at any speed. Operating the engine near...

Now I understand! I was wondering why you would want to make Prariedog holes bigger. For this bullet activated booby trap, Tannerite is ideal. Anything more potent would be harder to hit due to the smaller size.

Whos installed HAM Radio's in CUCV's

I see these radials a lot on airports. A mast gets the antenna above obstructions like metal hangars and the radials provide the ground plane for the omni rod. If you put the radials near or above the roof line on the CUCV, you should have an undisturbed radiation pattern without having to...

The expanding mortar mixes like Dexpan will work very well with the drill bit diameters and lengths of the FLU419 tools for rock breaking or removal of old foundations. I would have gone that route for the granite removal if it was not certain that I would also have to deal with some massive...

Tannerite's claim to fame is about making a lot of noise with little destructive effect. It's fun on the shooting range or on your own property for giggles but unless you use tons of it (or its cousin ANFO) not very useful as a land clearing and site preparation tool. Dynamite OTOH, if properly...

Yes, either what you use for the engine or in the hydraulic tanks. No need to stock another fluid.

I would also be interested about some antenna ideas for 2m and 70cm. Currently thinking about a commercial fender-mounted antenna but using the military side mounts would be nicer. KI7DVL

Motor oil for the FLU419 power steering. Drain the water out first. Search for "lubrication order FLU419" and download the other pertinent manuals posted on expeditionimports.com or Rocky Mountain Moggers as well. Read them a couple of times cover to cover and life with your FLU419 will be a...

There is a lot of grueling work (drilling) and preparation (loading and hook-up) needed before you can flip the switch or push the button. But I have noticed that even professional blaster who do this for a living will chuckle or laugh when a shot goes off. There is something inherently...

I used the rockdrill recently to drill blast holes into a granite outcropping and was impressed how well that worked. My Pionjar gasoline powered rockdrill is about 50% faster for the same 1-1/4" diameter but also a whole lot heavier and more tiring to work with. Plus the hydraulic hammerdrill...

You may want to ask MrSEE what he wants for the tool circuit valve section he has in stock from parting out an SEE. That should give you the parts you need. I am also posting the Parker number of these valves later.

The loader and tool circuit valves are standard Parker items. I was going to buy the double solenoid one from a hydraulics supply house but MrSEE had a more attractive deal for the valve section (I am going to add a third circuit to the front for winch or 4 in one bucket) I will post the...

Very happy with 700R4 in M1009

I put Helicoil inserts in all four holes but using through bolts in the top holes is a good idea. I'll try to find Grade 8 bolts that have enough thread to fit a nut on the protruding part.

Last weekend I put a 700R4 with NP241C in my M1009 with 4.10 gears in a 14 bolt FF axle and 315/75R16 BFGoodrich T/A KO2 (34.5" diameter) tires. This is the truck in my avatar. I built this tranny about 2 years ago during a long, cold Montana winter but did not have the time or energy to make...

    Tranny Cooler Questions

I changed to the 700R4 and NP241C with tall adapter yesterday. Did not take any photos but there is no mystery about replacing a transmission and T-case. Just a bunch of hard to get to bolts and the pain in the neck fluid line fittings that never want to line up and catch the thread. Did a...
