5th wheel pate on a M931A2 pin size?

It's a standard sized fifth wheel. The larger M916 trucks have the oversized fifth wheel for 3 inch pins.

M923: What could these items be?

I'm guessing that the key switch is another battery cutoff switch upstream from the one on the dash board. The item on the windshield frame, could it be a flux capacitor maybe?

New guy from PA just acquired an M35A1

I'm interested to find out if the truck still has the LDS-427. If so, it is a rare bird because most of these engines were removed and replaced with later multifuel engines.

    939a0 designation debate

I have an '84 M923. Not to throw gas onto the fire, but I did see it described as M923 Basic in one of the TM's.

M35a2 Chrome 4 inch stack and 5 Ton airfilter install

I like the functionality of what you did, but I see one problem. Photo #1 shows that you created a huge blind spot to the right. I would go for a simple mushroom cap, at least for on-road use.

Walt was a great guy. He would send me Rocky Mountain pictures and I would send him desert pictures. Thanks for the tribute to him.

Motor mounts cut thru cross member

I found out (the hard way) that the 1984 M1009 Blazer I had used 1984 6.2L diesel mounts. It was explained to me that the DOD chose the design in 1983 and told Chevrolet not to change anything. So, even though my Blazer was a 1984, it used 1983 diesel engine mounts.

    m51 Detroit diesel swap

The truck is designed for the R6602 gas engine, which is a 2800 RPM engine. The 8V71 is a 2100 RPM engine in stock form, so without gearing changes or much bigger tires, you will actually have a lower top speed. I myself would make sure the gas engine is running in top tune and live with it as...

    Lowering M931a2 5th wheel

Just remember that with a dolly you will have very little weight transferred to the tractor, so you will have to be very careful braking. You might consider adding ballast to the tractor fifth wheel. Backing up will be fun.

Sad day for my M1031 SECM...

^Agreed, I don't think it will ever be the same even with excellent welding. Not worth the risk of getting hit by anything if it breaks again.

    2015 TX MV Rally

Would you all mind if I pass this event info on to my son who lives in Leander? He is MV-less at the moment, but I know he and my two grandsons would love the event. Thanks, Matt

Trailer Pickup: Do I need Plates or Trip Permit? PA

In California you can get a move permit from the DMV. For trailers I've always said meh, but I suppose it wouldn't be a bad idea.
