Sounds like your charging system is working just fine then. Go for a nice 30 mile drive for a good charge.
Remember that battery cables can also have dirty connections at the starter and ground ends, not just at the battery. With a 6-Volt system, clean connections are especially important.

Sometimes when a vehicle pulls to one side, it's because one or more brake shoes on the other side of the vehicle is soaked in oil or brake fluid. I've had this happen with an M38A1 and an M35A2. It's even more noticable if it is one of the front sets of brake shoes that are wet.

Rosco is right, don't have someone push on the brake pedal with a drum removed. You will blow the pistons out of the wheel cylinder and have a big mess on your hands.
Another possibility for dragging brakes: the hoses can deteriorate and swell enough on the inside that they can block the flow...
I personally am not a fan of bobbers, but everyone is free to do whatever they want with their truck.
I do hate to see someone cut up a rarer truck, like an M36A2 or a M211. If you're going to cut up something, please consider cutting up something common.
Is this the wiggling fingers type of gage? If you can get the manufacturer and model number of the gage itself, I might be able to find the actual calibration procedure for the unit. In the room next to me is a huge library of manuals going back as far as the early '60's.

I like the using the gear oil in either one or five gallon containers with the hand pump. That way, you don't have to try to lift a little bottle up to the fill hole, just the end of a hose.
