It sounds like you got an excellent deal on that engine!

    923a2 multi fuel?

The red color of the ATF can be mistaken for the red dye added to "off road" diesel fuel. You can get in trouble if you are ever stopped and they think you are running non-taxed off road diesel fuel on the highway. There are big fines for this.

    923a2 multi fuel?

I stick to straight diesel in my M923. Every once in a while I dump a quart of two-stroke motor oil in the tank to add some lubricity to the modern ultra low-sulfur diesel fuel, but that's it.

    Problem getting a title

I had this problem years ago when I bought a 1969 Honda 350 Scrambler motorcycle without a title. I tracked down the original owner in Montana who sold the Honda at an auction in Las Vegas to the guy I bought the bike from. The guy in Montana wouldn't help at all. I ended up making a...

    2014 SoCal Spring Rally

Depending on finances, I might be able to bring out the big New girl. Low budget version is trailering out the M38A1.

    Worst Trip Ever

I would have been tempted to light the deuce on fire and roll it out into the desert once things got bad for about the third time. Good luck with your future trips and don't be afraid to ask for help if the going gets really tough.

I did the first thing on my 5-ton, acquiring it. I'm now the proud owner of a 1984 M923.

    Newbie Questions for a 1962 M55 Gasser

Yes. I have a friend with two WWII Dodges who has vapor lock troubles with both of them. He put electric fuel pumps on both of them. He only flips on the pump when starting or if the truck starts to stumble with vapor lock - usually in warm or hot weather or hot start like you describe. You...

    Accident aftermath (M1009)

True, I've seen that myself. I suggested headlights to get rid of the, "It is camoflauged, I didn't see it" excuse.

    Newbie Questions for a 1962 M55 Gasser

You have a very neat truck and I'm glad you are not talking about re-powering it. I would use heavy-duty 30W oil in the engine. Maybe someone else will chime in here, but I think shell Rotella 30W would be excellent in your engine. Even though the Rotella is made for diesels, you have a heavy...

    Strange metallic scraping sound

The bell housing should not have the drain plug installed. The drain should be open and the drain plug is stored in a threaded hole near the drain hole. Make sure the drain is open. I know on at least some trucks the bell housing is pressurized for fording when the drain plug is installed.

    Accident aftermath (M1009)

This is why it's a good idea to drive your MV with the headlights on, even in broad daylight.

M925A2 Fuel Tank Algae?? Black tar substance on bottom of tank

What does the stuff smell like? A petroleum smell like tar or crude oil, or like rotten eggs? Do you see rust in the bottom of the tank? You may want to pull all of the fuel lines and clean them in solvent. Probably should do this to the injector lines too. You could also pull the injectors...
