    Welcome Steve, Yes, in CA you need a CDL for anything with three axles that weighs over 6000 lbs. Why not get your CDL? Solves that problem.

    Engine and transmission are identical. Wiring harness is slightly different from the firewall back. Gas tank is unique and hard to find on the M170. Springs are softer on the M170. Turning radius is much bigger. Some of the litter hardware is hard to find if missing. My dad has an M170 that I love.

    Your fiance will probably appreciate the smoother ride on the passenger side of the Mog. My wife is still mad at me for getting rid of my Pinzgauer and getting an M923.
