Wow- you must really be driving your truck in some rough areas. I thought we had some rugged terrain out here in Utah/Idaho/Nevada. Never felt like the deuce was weak in the areas you point out.
Max out the tire size on your truck and you will have a hard time high centering or damaging steps...
Hi fellow westerner. Check your PM box for info about Clearfield.
What part of Idaho? I don't know what 63A is??? But it sounds better than me- I'm 55...
If you're lucky on your first auction, we'll help you pull it out. But don't feel bad if you don't get one your first time around- there...
You won't find any more leg room inside the A3, it's the same as the A2.
You might pay a lot more than you think- divorce is very expensive. Maybe get a pink one...
I agree with papercut. Many years ago I looked into buying a truck from DRMO or DLA or whatever it was at the time, and it was a LOT of work and nobody knew what was going on. I blew it off. Now with GL- they almost do it for you!

Best thing I ever did was move a long way from home... and much earlier than 21!
You'll never regret buying your own tools, you gotta have lots of tools now that you have a deuce.

None taken, that just happens to be what I paid for two 'running' trucks last week from GL...

My point was more to 'tip' the calculation in the buyers favor, NOT the sellers.
Take the price of a decent GL deuce- say $1500- and start subtracting the things you will need to buy to fix it up, and maybe a few bucks for your time (my time is very valuable- except when I'm working on my trucks- I don't dare keep track of it). Then you can come up with a fair price to offer...
The way the trans shifts is like the old city/metro buses I used to ride back in the 70's/80's (when I had to ride around on buses!). If you remember how those shifted- that's it. The transition between gears is is slow- drops a bit- then grabs. I kinda like it- more of a 'heavy duty truck'...
